Camera not working with Lion

Hi,

I have a late 2008 version of the MacBook Pro. I just installed Lion, my camera is not working. It says there is no camera connected. I used my camera a lot with snow leapord. I don't know what the issue is. Let me know if you can help?

I found this solution on another post:

Hey everyone I know the solution to this:
In the app store just clik the purchases tab while holding the option key, you will be able to download Mac OS X Lion again. Just re-install it and it will work after(this worked for me).

My reply:

I have the same problem on my MacBook after installing Mac OS X Lion. I just tried to follow Luis solution, but Mac OS X Lion it not appearing under my purchases when I clik on Purchases tab. BUT, when I search for Mac OS X Lion, it show up and says INSTALLED... so how do I re-install it????

Would love your help so I can talk to my family on Christmas Day in USA. Thanks! Alice.

Try creating a new Profile. If you are able to access your camera in the new profile then its a software issue. I just created a new profile and after using the time machine on my old profile - I was able to import all my files into the new profile.

Seems it was probably something I recently downloaded that conflicted with the camera. Possibly the new Flash install I did the other day. Not sure.

Hope this helps!

Confirmed!

I followed the recommendations in the link you provided and my late 2008 MacBook with Snow Leopard was able to use the camera again.

In particular, fully re-booting my mac was not enough. I had to do an SMC reset, which involved removing

the battery and un-plug the charger (after the mac for shutdown off course), and then press the power button for more than 5 seconds. Then, put the battery and charger back in and re-start the computer and oh miracle! it worked!

Thanks for the tip!

i got mine to work by following the 2nd method here: http://www.codium.co.nz/isight_fix/

super simple - i downloaded a zip file which had 2 files. one was used to open the other. then a restart. and it worked.

my problem stated when i just did a major update to 10.7.3 and my skype cam nor photo booth cam were working. it said "camera not connected"

this happened the last time after a major update. to fix it, i just did a few more updates and updated itunes as well and it seemed to fix it. but not this time.

Guys, upgraded from Lion and discovered this problem. I've tried everything to solve it - reseting, installing Combo updates, removing Skupe etc. Nothing seems to solve this issue.

Is there something else I should try?

My Mac is not under warranty anymore, so is it possible I will have to scrap the device I love because of one tiny lens on top is not working?

I found on another forum the solution.

Simple yet dumb: You have to reinstall Lion from the app store.

That's literally it. I would recommend you install from app store just incase (if you installed from dvd).

Since I did it the problem is gone and the camera works fine* (it gets confused when I unplug/plug in to my desktop arrangement but I chalk that up to my wierd setup)
