Installed Lion, Mail is not working

I restarted the machine after installing the upgrade (MacBook Pro) but still no mail of any kind. I've seen a few similar questions on other forums but no answers yet.

Would anyone here be able to offer any ideas? Thanks all.

My mail just hangs when trying to open, and on system preferesnces mail, contacts & calendars won't open either, it just hangs and have to force quit.

PLEASE!!! WHAT DO I DO!!!

My Mail program was just frozen on the screen as a smallish window. I dragged the Mail icon from the dock to delete it thereand reopened Mail from the Applications folder in the Finder. I then dragged the icon from the Appliations folder to the dock to copy it. Mail is working again!
