iTunes 10.4 & Multimedia Keyboard

Since I installed iTunes 10.4 for Windows (Windows 7, x64), I can no longer use my Multimedia Keys for Play/Pause and so on.

I have a Logitech Illuminated and tried all the usual tricks like mmkeys.dll, but nothing worked.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

PC, Windows 7

So, I just tried the update and it still doesn't work. Here is my hardware:

OS: Windows 7 x64

Keyboard: Logitech Illuminated (not the wireless version, but the one with the wire)

Logitech Software version: Logitech SetPoint 6.30.41

Logitech Driver version: 5.30.67

It is bad enough that Apple has messed up our Multimedia keys, but another one, that they claim to have fixed the problem when in fact, they don't.

THIS WORKS!!

My keyboard (logitech k520) media keys are useless with the new iTunes update (10.4.1.10) also.

But i have found this program http://hktunes.googlecode.com/files/HKTunesPortableV17.zip which once installed, runs in the background and enables the media keys to control iTunes.

Only problem is that iTunes must be running in the background (minimised), but at least it works.

I'll be using this until Apple provides a fix in a future update.

I hope this helps some of you. 🙂

I have the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution, it used to work just fine with the previous versions of ITunes, but the problems started with the new version. I had to install an older version, but yesterday I saw the update and it stated that it fixed multimedia problems with some only to come and find out my display works, shows the song I'm listening, and the up/down/mute volume keys also work other than that the play/pause, forward/back keys are not working. Is Apple working on a solution for this? Or do I just give up and install an older version?

same issue, same keyboard. [Razer Lycosa]

FIXED.

Great instructions on saving all my playlists and thank god I can use the media keys again... They were one of the main reasons I bought the lycosa just over a week ago. Have been freaking out for the last few days since I finally caved and updated iTunes & then my keys randomly stop working. Unforunately for me my library is closer to 200GB so it's going to take a while to load that last playlist with all the music XD

To anyone else that is having issues it's definitely ~NOT~ your keyboard. Just crappy apple playing up yet again.

downgrade ftw!

The (simple) fix that worked for me is on another discussion:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3190622?answerId=16104060022#16104060022

- You need to open a text editor (like notepad) as an administrator.

- Open the SetPoint players.ini file (C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPointP\players.ini)

- Edit the line under the [Players] section to match the line bellow (bold is the wndClass which is to be changed)

iTunes=wac,iTunes.exe,ITWindow,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,0,1,iTunes

- Save the file

- Restart the SetPoint and hopefully play/pause, next and previous buttons should work (at least they work for me)

Thanks Pikot!
