Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
I've seen many comments about people having different problems and trouble with the new OS X Lion, does anyone recommend me to download it? My current OS is Mac OS X 10.6.7.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Yeah why would you try to defend Lion at all? That is as embarassing for you as someone trying to defend Windows Vista.
Lion is super buggy and also, ugly.
EMC having bugs or not, that still doesn't make Lion good.

You forgot to mention that its mother dresses it funny...

Well, that EMC issue really is a sign about how people jump into the Lion bash-wagon without thinking. Everything must be a Lion's fault. Sorry, but the fault there lays on the storage team that didn't do their job of checking with EMC support, obliging you and others to downgrade OS X in order to be able to work in that customer environment instead of applying the EMC patch that has been made available 2 months ago, even before Lion was released to the public.

And yet there are some of us who have had no problems at all with Lion, many of us in fact. So ask yourself, what did they do that I didn't.
“Theories only fail when they are disproven.”
There’s more reason not believe Darwin’s theory than there is evidence to support it. At some point improbability becomes impossibility. Millions of monkeys typing for billions of years will not produce Shakespeare.

I wasn’t expecting this to continue, especially here, so this will be that last from me on it. I would be happy to take it somewhere else which would likely not change anything. We could go point, counter-point and on and on.
The only evolution we need here is getting the bugs and quirks out of Lion.
“On the other hand, I don't write off its future improvement and/or incorporation of, say, a dual-capability interface, simple when I log on, more complex when I invoke more demanding applications and problem-solving environments.”
Sorry, Bob, but I’ve lost my train of thought on this. Not sure to whom or to what I was responding. Between talking with my wife about grandkids and researching for an off topic response to someone else, I can only say that I agree with the quote from your first paragraph, and I’m not sure about any thoughts on your second one.
I know this went way off topic, but at this point I must ask. If it isn't Evolution, then what is it? I hope not Adam and Eve. Not even the priests in Italy dare to support such a fairy-tale. The Catholic Church also affirms that the Evolution theory is compatible with the Faith adding the fact that the Mankind is such because of the intervention of God.
Personally I like the Kubrick's Monolite concept. Not that I believe in that, but I find it fashinating!!
I know, I am agnostic. 😉

Well I've been getting tons of emails on this thread daily... Wow I see it is at 124 pages... Here is my take on it:
Is Lion buggy? Yes... but no more so than any other OS X major release I've been a part of. For the most part things do work. There have been rough spots getting new drivers, program updates but as of right now both my MBP15 and my MacPro from 2008 are humming long well on Lion. No major issues. A few annoyances.
So what is the reason for all the issues? I'm proof it can work and there have been other posts here that it can work. From my perspective:
Change in interface (to me more like iOS). This was bound to **** a TON of people off. In fact when GUIs were first invented the Unix guys I worked with thought the same thing. What a waste! Some of those guys could construct command line sequences that would blow your mind! I mean piping output into sed, grep and a whole ton of other utilities and getting more work done during that one command line than any WYSIWYG interface of the time. It was impressive to work with these guys and I learned a lot. By the end of my 3rd year I was in command of 80+ character command lines that even today take me a long time to do in the GUI word.
But back on topic, the GUI change was bound to **** some people off. But from what I can see you can still do just about anything the way you used to do it. Apple has just moved "where" things are. I've been able to re-enable my command 1, 2, 3 to go to desktops by number. But since I have the track pad on both computers the 3 finger swipe is turning out to be just as quick.
Prep for iCloud. I think this has caused some issues frankly. I think that USB drives are more flakey. Not sure if that is due to iCloud stuff or not. But I know that I see more issues with USB drives than I did in the past.
I can tell there is a distaste for some of the "new" things like LaunchPad. I admit I don't use it either. I still love my good old "LaunchBar" so that with command-space and a few keys I can run any app any time. I have other utils (pathfinder) that allow me to fav apps and they are a menu click away. So way the hoola about LaunchPad? Just don't use it!
There are more but I'll not waste everyone's time.
Is Lion the evolutionary path for Mac OS? Well if you look closely at Apple they have been extremely successful at effecting change in the industry. Just look at the iPhone. Before it came out there were a very few touch screen devices and those were limited to tapping an icon. Apple redefined the phone for the most part and they were HUGELY successful at it. Even if you don't own an iPhone you have to admit the influence on other devices. I picked up my friends Android based HTC and was instantly using it because it used so many iPhone like gestures.
So will Apple succeed in their move to make computers like iPads? Well I think the answer might be yes. But for everyone there is a stopping point. While I like the Lion GUI features I still need my terminal and command line. I just used it again this morning. So the day that Apple removes the terminal is probably when I will cease to upgrade. Who knows...
I think in pure numbers, just looking at sales Lion is doing well. Apple may post another record quarter. I think they will succeed with Lion and I just hope that for us old-timers we don't lose some of things we still need and want. But also in my experience, even if apple does away with something, usually there is some guy who brings it back in some app. For example Pathfinder offers it's own terminal. etc.
It's fun to watch this thread! Quite an uproar in some ways and I think healthy too to understand how we each think.
”Obviously“
I said, ”I stand corrected.“ but, you apparently needed to get the last word.
And now this juvenile ”Magic“ remark. What are you, fourteen or something?
BTW, that's a rhetorical question, but I suspect you won't be able to resist a reply.
It’s all about the marketing. There are millions of iPod/iPhone users out there who use PC’s and would likely switch to Mac if it worked like their iOS iDevices. That’s why the iPad caught on so quickly, and now Apple is doing the same with the Mac.
Here's another interesting read from some professionals who don't recommend Lion. I was thinking of setting up a RAID volume for my system, but doesn't look like a good idea.
I also see that iCloud beta is available to the general public http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/ . This is a scary development, in my view, and probably the one thing that's going to force me off Macs (when Snow Leopard is too long in the tooth).
Following a suggestion from another poster, Linux Mint looks interesting (I'm sure I've seen that trash can icon somewhere else before...;) ).
I also see that iCloud beta is available to the general public
Why would you say it is available to the general public when it clearly is not? The link you posted has an option to sign up to be notified when it's available.
