Set Web Inspector to open attached to current window (Safari 5.1)

Okay, this is going to drive me nuts:

I just upgraded to Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard, and now whenever I open the web inspector (Developer feature), it opens in a separate window. It used to default to opening within the current window, which is what I prefer. Now I have to hunt down the 'Dock to main window' button everytime I want to inspect a page's code!

Any help would be much appreciated; I'm curious if this occurs for others or if this is a conflict with one of my plugins. I've already looked through the Safari preference file (com.apple.Safari.plist) and found 'WebKit Web Inspector Setting - inspectorStartsAttached' set to true, but that doesn't seem to be working.

I know it's not ideal, but I'm using Keyboard Maestro to fix this issue for now.

When I hit ctl-opt-cmd-i in Safari, Keyboard Maestro types opt-cmd-i (which opens the web inspector) and then positions the mouse over the dock icon and clicks.

Unfortunately you still have to change the height of the docked inspector each time.

Bonus points: Using BetterTouchTool to map ctl-opt-cmd-i to a three button click on the Magic Mouse.

This bug forced our developer team to discover Chrome browser and we'll stick to it :

- Same engine as Safari

- Less beautifull than Safari

- Quicker

This kind of bug make developer go away and they are rarely coming back.

I am also quite disapointed to see there is no response or explanation from Safari's product manager at Apple.
