F5 Firepass VPN and OSX Lion 10.7

Since installing Lion, VPN has stopped working. Will not connect. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi HawkEyze,

Read a few posts back in this thread - I have had some mixed success with a Python script and have posted my findings.

I am able to use it with some occasional drop-out of the public internet and DNS routes, but it's mostly usable. Based on what F5 said in a tweet, there may be some F5 configurations that might not work with this, but give it a shot.

Jake, thanks for the reply. I did have a go at the Python script, however, either I was doing something wrong or my vpn credentials are somehow wrong.

What I did was copy it to my documents and then run it via terminal, it would prompt for the password but I could never get past that.

On my company VPN i have to login to a webpage, and then the list of several vpn's come up which I select the one I use. It would then launch the Java and connect me without having to login again. No luck since Lion.

So, if you have any other tips I could try using the python that would be great. Not sure if I am just missing a few steps.

Thanks again!

Apple, this is really not satisfactory if you want to play in the enterprise space.

We are a growing group of Mac advocates that been pushing the Mac.OS platform into enterprise and this thing just cause alot of damage to this community and the credibility of Mac.

F5 VPN is a corporate industry standard and releasing an OS without support is just not acceptable. Yes, you can always discuss the responsibility of F5, but if Apple wants to be in the enterprise space you need to have the foresigth to take of such cases. Get this solved asap.

Tian,

I am using Parallels with Windows 7 loaded. I do like how I can put it on a seperate desktop space and swipe right and left between Win7 and Mac OS Lion.

However, my VPN obviously only connects on the Win7 side due to the lack of support for f5 in Lion. My issue is I have apps such as Sharepoint and Remote Desktop Connections that requre the VPN and I would like to use the versions included with Office 2011 for Mac which I am unable to do unless I figure out how to create a tunnel to the VPN so that it will connect on the host side.

There are plenty of articles discussion how to share your Mac (Host) VPN with the Virtual Machine but I need the opposite until a hotfix is released for f5.

Does anyone know how I would accomplish a connection to the VPN running on the VM side from host? Would VMWARE be able to do this as I do not see a way with Parallels. Any ideas or suggestions would be great!

I just checked on the support site of F5 and 10.7 (32bit and 64bit) is supported:

On 7.0.0

HF-70-3 + HF-360430-362770-363253-362774-363629-1

On 6.1.0

HF-360430-362770-363253-363457-363629-1. If you have HF-360450-361291-1 installed, then HF-360430-362770-363253-363457-363629-1 must be installed on top of it.

Using Safari. 5.0
