Mail in OSX Lion : pop not OK

Same in Germany. I have the same problem. After a update to Lion I can send emails but I cannot receive any. I hope that this is fixed ASAP.

The POP at the Luxembourg P&T-Server does'nt react to Lion. So I put the account to imap.pt.lu. It now works with Apple Lion. Maybe you got the same problem. I see that many people are complaining about that problem.

I solved this problem with POP account very simple. Though I've read a lot to find it, but here it is (at least it works fine with Gmail accounts):

Go to Accounts>Advanced and just check the port you uses for downloading mail from your POP server. For POP it should be 995 and SSL should be switched on.

After that Mail 5.0 downloaded all mail I had on my server (I use chelarbitr.com with Gmail Apps installed).

That's all.

I see several of you changed the type of account we are discussing here, I mean, maybe changing the POP account to an IMAP type will work (lucky you!), but there is still the problem with de POP ones.

I dont have the option of changing the POP to an IMAP account, or changin the port the server uses, or the use of SSL.

I went through all the hassle of deleting all my mail accounts and working with my ISP to recreate them and nothing could be done. The problem resides in the Mail app or in Lion OS.

mail works perfectly! Follow these instructions:

Open your account/s

Don't cahnge anything on Account info

Don't change anything on Rules

Go to Advanced and change Authentication into POP authenticated (APOP)

You have done! Great!

I've bought Lion, and whatever I try, Pop in mail doesn't work!

And I don't understand why the left mailboxlist is twice as big as before. changing the size isn't a luxery option, I think.

I even try to reinstall mac SO 10.6 and guess what:

it's forbidden. You can't reboot your mac with a former installation DVD anymore.

Once upgraded you're chained to the lion for the rest of your life.
