Xcode 4.1: Failed to download documentation package for Mac OS X 10.7 Core Library.

I am also having the same problem.

I was able to download "Xcode 4.1 Developer Library", "Mac OS X 10.6 Core Library (Apple Mac OS X 10.7)", and the iOS 4.3 Libray (Apple iPhone OS 4.3)" successfully.

Only "Mac OS X 10.7 Core Library" can't be downloaded. I get the "Failed to download documentation package for Mac OS X 10.7 Core Library." error with a message "Access denied for download. Check that your account name and password (possibly stored in your keychain) are correct and still valid for the server."

When I go to the feed link, http://developer.apple.com/rss/com.apple.adc.documentation.AppleLion.atom, for the 10.7 Core Library in Safari and click on the basicAuthGetSoftware link, I am asked to allow Safari to use my apple id from my keychain. When I click allow, it downloads a small 2K file called com.apple.adc.documentation.applelion.corereference.xar which contains HTML. After I renamed the file with an HTML extension and loaded it in Safari I saw the following:

Access Denied

So now I am off to contact the ADC Support Team to see if they can explain why this documentationis being blocked. Wish me luck.

I guess we're not meant to talk to them unless we have a paid Mac Developer membership.

This is just getting pathetic. I've already had enough trouble even installing Xcode 4.1 in the first place, and now this.

Feel free to chime in if there are any registered (paid) developers who have managed to download this documentation set. Hopefully there is a fix coming relatively quickly.

I just installed Xcode 4.1 from the Mac App Store.

No problems whatsoever. All documentation present.

Are you registered in the Mac developer program?

Actually it has happened in the past...

Usually when it happens the link is dead for a few days and then somebody at Apples reacts and updates it.

iOS developer program only.

This is both buggy and intentional. I am not registered in any developer program but am able to download the iOS 4.3 library but not the Mac OS X 10.7 core library.

As a paid user of Xcode 4.0, I could download all the documentation libraries, and now after upgrading to Lion, this? 😟

Again I feel this is ONLY a question of the final public documentation bundle not being ready (there are people working at the other end of the cable), the same thing happened when xCode 4 was released for all on the Mac App Store...

The people that are on a paid Developper program can download the file on the repository because they're the documentation files that were made for the dev betas (docs updated in the beginning of june).

The documentation file for the publicly released xCode 4.1 will eventualy be added (in a couple of days if it happens like with xCode 4 release on the MAS).

I totally agree. I don't think that this is a slight in any way. Just an issue with the final docs. I just wish that the error was a bit more descriptive.
