Will hotmail work as IMAP on the new Lion Mail?

That has nothing to do with it, read Microsofts own support bulletins, there is a problem with the server currently a work in progress that causes deletions from the client not to be reflected at the server.

Not working well with Mac Mail, is there a guide on how to set up the account on mac mail?

Not so sure where /how to set up the outgoing server...

ZetaOne, is your account working with Outlook 11?

It works better outlook 2011 had no problems,
when I have time I'll try to add the calendar..

Any Idea how i can contact Mac Mail support? becuase my 3 months free support has expired and this's a differant issue alltogether.

IMAP Hotmail does work on Mail, follow the instructions and it should work fine.

Create a hotmail account in Mail and change some settings :-

Ignore the IMAP in red, that will change once you have change all the nessacery settings.

Igore the outgoing mail server for now

Close Mail then goto the next step

In this step goto (username)~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/ and edit Accounts.plist with Xcode to the following settings (You need to first find which item number is your Hotmail account then do the changes)

Close Xcode and open mail, check your hotmail account it should now say IMAP and not POP. You have now got a full working IMAP account on Mail.

I found a work around to this. Simply use a different domain name to be able to manually set up the account once the account is set up change the e-mail addres back to your hotmail address.

so if you want to use your.name@live.com simply add your.name@other.com your will be prompted to manually setup the account. enter

imap-mail.outlook.com :993

smtp-mail.outlook.com :587

as your server settings and use your your.name@live.com as your username with your regular password.

once all that is done go back and edit your address
