cannot zoom after install of Lion on MackBook Pro -

I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro laptop. I enabled all the trackpad features to be able to pinch and zoom, but none of them are working. Everything worked with Snow Leopard. I also noticed that the finder boxes no longer seem to have the size slider in the lower right corner so my pictures remain too small for me to see. - Any fixes?

I "upgraded" from Lion back down to Snow Leopard, and got these amazing features for free:

  1. Pinch-zoom in Finder
  2. See minimized windows in Expose

More seriously, the few things I liked about Lion are available in Snow Leopard via these add-ons:

  1. BetterTouchTool
  2. Quickpick
  3. ScrollReverser

and I'm sorry to say I'm much happier with Snow Leopard... especially due to the pinch-zoom issue discussed here. Sorry, but Lion was a flop for my workflow and ease-of-use.

Yo Apple,

Anyone checking this forum? I have been using PC for many, many years but converted to Mac after I purchased an Iphone and then an Ipad. I invested in an Imac 27" and Macbook Pro 17" within a year ago because I really enjoy the pinch gestures. In particular, I really like the ability to pinch to zoom in finder because I have a big collection of photos to sort through, and I also enjoy using the shuffle mode in slideshow when I want to ramdomly display photos on my screen. I invested thousands of dollars for a single feature that I find superior to PC when handling photos. For everything else, I still rely on my Win7 running in Parallels. I am sure there are many of us out there.

You spent millions in ads trying to convert PC users to Mac. By removing the very essential pinch-to-zoom feature from Lion and ignoring the angers voiced by seasoned Mac and PC-to-Mac users alike, you are going to find out soon enough that you are nothing without your customers! You must admit your mistake and fix it!

I, for one, have already used Bootcamp to convert my Imac and Macbook Pro to run Win7. I don't want to consider upgrading to Iphone 4S because I am going to give Android phones a try. Oh, I am putting my Ipad on Ebay to get enough money for me to get an Android tablet. I am just a voice of one...or am I?

DVinNJ,

Many of us are extremely disappointed in Apple for removing this feature. You are not alone. For the life of me, I don't understand why they would take pinch-to-zoom out of the finder windows. There is no replacement and they don't use the gesture for any other feature. They simply removed it. It's doubling confusing considering that Lion was supposed to focus on better integration of useful gestures.

At this point, the best we can hope for is that it's some kind of giant oversight and failure on their part. I highly recommend that you, and everyone else here, visit the Apple feedback site at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html. Let them know that you want this feature back. Be specific and describe the feature and how it works so they know what you're talking about.

Yeah,

and the funny thing is, that apple added the pinch zoom to the wallpaper selection for the thumbnails where i personally do not need it at all.

so please apple, do something about it in the next update.

That's ridiculous!!!!

Why would they do that1??!!!!

Though, it does work flawlessly... Much better than the Finder pinch to zoom did in Snow Lepard. SO PUT IT IN FINDER IN LION!!!

Also, I would like to point out how OLD this thread is, and how LITTLE action Apple has taken.

Really?
As much as i loved this feature and as much as i want it in Lion, i think its a bit OTT to be going back to Snow Leaopard based on this one fault.

Its bloody annoying granted, but really? The gestures, desktops, £21 price tag, is more than enough to keep me happy.

Yes, i want it changed, yes i think its poo that its not in Lion, but there is no way im going back

In fact i dont think the comments about going back to Windows and Android based on this ommission are serious, they cant be. If they are then i seriously doubt you ever had Lion in the first place.

Yes really. If you are happy with other aspects of Lion, good for you. However, if you dont understand how big of an impact the missing pinch feature in finder is to other Lion users, please don't minimize the severity of the situation. Your comment about those of us moving back to Window, Android, or SL being not serious is just mocking and belittling those of us already extremely frustrated at Apple for doing nothing. Your comment is not helpful, instead it just sounded like from a know-it-all arrogant person. I, for one, did have Lion. How the **** would I know the pinching feature is missing if I didn't have Lion? I think you are just seeking attention!

I agree, I have actually despite wanting not to, muddled by with lion, Roland have now sorted out their non funtioning cut studio plugin and I have bought and paid for updates on my other software.

However when your busy its the biggest pain in the rear having to open finder and set the icon zoom size with a slider for each folder. Then searching via an app browse to load finder and the icons being to big or too small.

Dont get me started on the desktop and having to mess around with a view box.

My mac is used for business use and time is money.

I hope that apple doesnt end up following Steve.

Its the small things that annoy people the most.

I would go back to windows but I would rather shove hot needles in my eyes,

I did concider going back to snow leopard, however my smb drive wouldnt work with it and now at least has some connectivity with lion.

I just wish they would get their act together. Too busy messing with Iphones and Ipads me thinks

It wasn't just this feature, but it was a really big part.

My upgrade from Leopard -> Snow Leopard was great, loved everything about SL

My upgrade from Snow Leopard -> Lion was really disappointing and getting in the way of work.

After a week or so finding/downloading workarounds for most of the things I disliked about Lion (apart from Pinch/Zoom and no minimized windows in Mission Control...) - I realized these utilities worked on Snow Leopard as well, and I get those features back.

SL+BetterTouchTool+Scroll Reverser = happy camper :-)
