Updated to Lion and iWork 9.1 / Pages 4.1 ...

Can no longer insert Endnote citations (Endnote X4). Anyone else experiencing the same?

Toddknuston: Like you I had a DVD install, but I went ahead and installed the Pages Endnote plug-in. It appeared to work for the first few revisions of a document I was working on.

However, it then stopped working, and the invisible citation placeholder problem recurred, as did the delay in reformatting of the bibliography.

Per other suggestions, I ran the maintenance scripts, but that does not seem to have solved the problem either.

mclwriter:

Endnote had me send them copies of the affected documents as well as a a subset of my Endnote library that contained the citations for those documents. That was over a month ago and I have not heard back from them.

I did identify a malformed "multi-byte" character in one of the citations that was causing Pages to crash. The multi-byte problem was supposed to have been fixed last year.

I reverted my entire system to OS X 10.6.8, and did a clean install of Endnote X5 and iWork. After a week of no problems editing my existing Pages documents (unchanged since the re-install), I (re)-upgraded to OS X 10.7.2.

I have had no problems since. However, I did lose the better part of a day and half doing the full back ups and restores. If you are going to go this route, it helps to have a Firewire 800 back up drive, since the transfer rates are so high.

Endnote X5 and Pages now (appear) to work properly, and I have had no problems working with citations. Everything behaves as it should. If that changes I will post back. If I ever hear back from Thomson Reuters Tech Support I'll let you know.

FYI, I installed iWork from my original DVD, and did not need to run the add-on package for citation support that comes from the App store.

The add-on package is dedicated to the application bought to Mac App Store.

When the installer was built they forgot to include the plugin code so a complementary installer was needed.

The updater dedicated to the iWork package is complete so there is no need for the extraneous updater.

I just did what was asked on the screen.

showing that EndNote is really connected to the app.
