Lion: where is iSync?

Why in Lion there isn't iSync?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

iSync isn't a fairly basic app. Keeping it up to date with the hundreds of phones released each year, which all need to be catered for individually is not a simple task. In fact, Apple themselves have not added support for a single new phone to iSync since October 2007 - over 4 years ago.

iSync only ever supported feature phones (dumb phones). Those type of phones are rapidly decreasing in popularity. iSync has never supported SmartPhones (except for about 3 Sony Ericsson Symbian models) and doesn't support Android, Blackberry or Windows Mobile phones at all. Those are the types of devices people are buying these days.

And let's not forget, that Apple now have their own phone to support and develop for. Why would they devote valuable time and effort into supporting their competitors phones when even the manufacturers of those phones don't bother to support Mac users?

I have the same problem: brand new MacbookPro, Nokia C5 smartphone, and none of the sync functions is working AT ALL.

Apple support doesn´t feel responsible, Nokia says I should ask apple.

In 2012, buying a new datamachine I EXPECT that I don´t have to type all changes into any mobile phone. Living in Norway it is not wise to buy the iphone either, since there is no garanty when used below 0 degrees, which occures half the year.

I never used Snow leopard either, so I can´t extract isync there, so how do I sync my adress book from Macbook to phone?? This is really annoying, and a quite bad advertisments for apple!

Thanks for confirming that for us. I guess I'll -yet again- be sticking with 10.6. The idea of being forced to sync user data through a third-party data centre is pretty distasteful. While I can accept that Apple has no interest in allowing phones other than their own to sync with OS X, that even those devices are required to do so via the cloud would seem to be a big step toward insecurity.
