How to uninstall Safari 5.1

I just did the most recent Software update and installed Safari 5.1, but I am still running Snow Leopard. Big mistake. Several websites that are important to me are not working properly. Not happy at all.

How do I uninstall 5.1 and go back to 5.0.5?

Is that naive, or does it work that way?

I'd be surprised if it did. My point is that you don't know yet whether your problem with that site is really due an incompatibility with Safari or to bad data in your account. If I were you, I'd enable guest logins, log in as Guest (no password needed), and test.

I would like to do that as well, not really, but 5.1 has driven me crazy. It's slow as molassas, currently using 6GBs of RAM, & oddly removed my "click-to-flash" so that when I opened it for the first time, I was hit with multiple videos & music clips all playing at once! If I trash 5.1 & redo the update combo, will it still keep all my cookies, bookmarks & open tabs, etc?

According to you, Safari 5.1 was using too much RAM and CPU, but only drove my macbook's fans crazy.

My Safari 5.05 extensions (AdBlock 2.4.14, CenterImages 4.0.5, ClickToPlugin 2.3.1) were not affected with the v5.1 upgrade/downgrade. The v5.1 incompatible plugins were Paperless and Cosmopod.

Monthes ago, I replaced ClickToFlash plugin with ClickToPlugin extension, more extensive and powerfull ; give it a look...

Through Safari's upgrade/downgrade, nothing has changed : preferences, history, bookmarks, cookies, etc. are still the same. But I guess that open tabs are a v5.1 new feature...

I wouldnt let any Apple employee clean my mouse let alone touch my user account. I doubt you had a bug in your account considering lots of people seem to be having the same issue as you.

Creating a new user is Apple's solution for everything.
