Adobe Photoshop CS5 is not working with Lion. It is totally non responsive to a point where i cannot work. all other CS5 programs seem to be running well so far. any advice? if no, then how do i revert back to Snow leopard?
Did you install an updated version of Java? This should fix the issue. It worked for me? Lion does not come with Java.
it prompted me to install the java and i did. but photoshop is not working. all others work just fine: flash, illustrator, bridge
I did a clean install of Lion and I haven't used Photoshop a lot yet but it does work and is responsive. I didn't read any negatives from those with the developer previews that indicated there was any problem with Photoshop.
Maybe it's a plugin that you have installed that is causing the problem.
I just reinstalled java and restarted and it still doesnt work. im going to try reinstall photoshop
I have not actually done anything with it but did just happen to open Photoshop CS5 a few minutes ago just to make sure it would start up. Didn't do anything beyond that really but didn't seem to have any issues.
have you tried to work with it? it launches for me too, but once you start working it stalls.
I've merged layers and copied relavant layers to a new document without any problem. That's been the extent of my testing with Photoshop CS5. No problems, no hesitations or stalling.
I just went back and opened a file I was recently working on that had a number of layers with high res photos. Did some quick manipulation of those layers and no issues. It actually appeared to me that it even started up faster.
I had real problems with all Adobe apps - it said I needed to install a version of Jave Runtime, but kept saying that I wasn't connected to the internet to complete the action. This was not the case - I was connected to the internet.
I followed this link : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421 to install a version of Java and all Adobe apps fire up now. Haven't done much testing within the apps, but at least I'm further ahead than I was.
So thanks to the message boards for helping me out.

Reset the preferences in Photoshop and try opening again. Shift+Command+Option when opening PS. Good luck!

i tried to reset prefs - still doesnt work. it launches fast, i open a file and as soon as i try anything, even just select a layer on a low res file, it just hangs in the beach ball mode for ages.
i also reinstalled photoshop CS5.
how do i revert back to snow leopard?

it eappears that new files work perfectly. it is when i open my older files thats when it hangs.
Were these files pre CS5 files or just recently (before Lion) created files? The file I opened was pre Lion and workd fine.
