I agree 100% with you and also the What ********?!?! effect. 10.7.2 have being reported as no having any kind of bug fix, so I'm guessing we are in trouble for a while.
This is just incredible.
Let's use this and send them some feedback:
Internet sharing broken for me after installing OS X Lion. I tryd : ajusting the setings, flushing firewall ruls, lion fresh install. Dos't work! They must fixit!
i think the google website you opened its just a cached version... cus everything is not working for me... only google except its a cache version...
The help text in lion says
"If your Internet connection and your local network use the same port (Ethernet, for example), investigate possible side effects before you turn on Internet sharing. In some cases (if you use a cable modem, for example) you might unintentionally affect the network settings of other ISP customers, and your ISP might terminate your service to prevent you from disrupting its network."
I changed from channel 11 to 3 and it worked fine.
The help page "Share your Internet connection" does clarify what settings to make for the "from/to" device view.
It works, I needed to spend quite some time, you must go to:
1.the preferences menu, then select sharing...
2. disable the internet sharing if is ticked on, then all the options will be available inside the box
3. make sure you that you have the ethernet cable connected
4. make sure you have the wifi service enable
5. then at the internet sharing option at the sharing menu you just select the Wi-Fi services and go to option, just below the box
6. you will be asked to create a network access...give a name, choose the port 2 or 3 then its done!
It worked on my Mac OS Lion!
regards

Whatever I am doing is not working properly. Can you share the net with you iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch and watch YouTube videos on the iOS device? If so, can you create a YouTube of your settings so the rest of us can try to figure out what we are doing wrong? I can share the net with my iOS devices, but there is a lot I can not do (YouTube, Maps, etc).
Yes, it works for my iPad2, iPhone 4 and at home i even access it with my Playstation 3, i am actually at the office and i can even use an app WatchTV to watch live tv... just perfect
If you are having problems, please delete all the network conections, then create one by one, first the ethernet connection then you follow those instructions, dont forget to press the "apply" button below at the window for every change you do.
I could post the images of it but my language is set up for Portuguese...
My strong recommendation is to do it calm and be patient
When the problem was confirmed, the first thing I done was to delete all network configuration, this was one of the first thing to do when Snow Leopard also came with this problem. But on Lion, nothing changed, it connects but it's slow and selective of wich can open or not.
No channel(I mean no one, I try all of them), name(the "airport" name used to have a problem on snow leopard)...nothing seems to change that for me. I only had this broken connection...
But I'm glad to know it's working for you. For me, I believe it will come only with a system update, after all there's not much to configurate in the internet sharing options, only name, channel and security type...
Thank you for the feedbacks.
I had to try this several different times. Here is what worked for me:
Used channel 1 and turned off security.
After reading some of the solutions from different users, I've found that the only way to make it work was turning off the firewall in Lion... I'm not yet sure why is the bridging connection blocked by the firewall but if I find anything I'll be sure to post.
That sounds like it may work. How do I turn off the firewall?
As always with mac, easy-peasy... Open System Preferences>Security & Privacy>Firewall
You may need to provide your password as an administrator user.
Fraid it didn't work for me. But it was worth a try. Thanks. It does feel like a firewall problem or some sort, which explains why I can get Google on my iPad, but no other sites.
Same here, I used to be able to share my ADSL connection with my iPhone and iPad, but since I installed Lion, my Wif sharing is dead slow, only works with certain websites and google. I tried changing channels and all the cr*p, doesn't seem to be working. Apple, please fix this problem, need an update
