Scroll Bar arrows Gone?
The verical scoll bar arrows are no longer there on OS X 10.7.
Any way in System prefs or Safari prefs to get them back?
Imac 20, Mac OS X (10.6.6), 10.7 installed

The link Scott posted has everything to do with this topic. It is an indication that the people on this thread are not the only ones who have problems with Apple's current direction on the interface. The comments by the author of that piece clearly indicate that the business community in general is not impressed with the attempt to dumb down the OS to a mobile platform. Apple had made great strides in the business world and managed to push PCs out of many offices. With moves like this they risk losing all of that progress. My company has about 150 desktop and laptop devices. We have been an all Mac shop for over 15 years. We have now frozen updates at 10.6.8 and are actively exploring converting to PCs. All because of the productivity loss that goes with 10.7. I am sure we are not alone. I and many others have given feedback to Apple, I only hope that they are responsive to that feedback because I DO NOT want a PC on my desk.

So true, HowieCarr, and well said. I've used Macs since 1984, and I can't belive the blinders Apple has put on recently regarding business needs. Apple is going to lose us businesses if they do not decide to allow an option for scroll bar arrows on an upcoming OS version. Soon. It's truly a productivity loss issue with OS 10.7.
Indeed. Our troll's charge of being unable to adapt to change is amusing, directed as it is to people who have been using Macs for decades, who experienced the dramatic change in the office and studio of doing ever more work with the help of a computer, and sticking with Apple through all of its own major changes. These are people who actually use the computer as a production tool first, not as an oversized iPod.
And it's just the missing scrollbar arrows that I can't "adapt" to except by compromising efficiency. That is quite contrary to the very purpose of using a computer (particularly a Mac) in the first place.

Then return to 10.6 No sign of them in the upcoming 10.9 Sorry. It's been well over two years now and yet only a handful of you are not adapting? Might say something?
Cheers

Yes, I see the thousands of additions to this thread.
Apple must be panicking by now! 😉😁😀
Get used to them never coming back.

Now I've filed a complaint through Apple's feedback page.
I've used Macs since the SE I bought in 1988 and this is the most annoying change made by Apple since... since... I don't remember anything worse than this one, actually! 😟
I hate the scroll bars without arrows! Grrrrr....😠
You can always go back to Snow Leopard. Th Ta when they were last arond. About two and a half years ago.
Good luck with the feedback.

I would prefer that Apple fixed the Auto-Correct on the iPhone keyboard! As you can see above! lol

Hey Pete, I enjoy getting a-little practice at writing. (I suppose that you do, too.)
Please allow me to play a Eulogy, as I say: "Farewell, scroll arrows! You'll be missed." :-(
You are nearly three years and three OSXs late to the funeral! lol

I am evaluating "Smart Scroll" (v3.9) from marcmoini.com. I turned off all of its features except the scroll keys. This allows assigning keys to perform the functions of scrollbar arrows. I assigned ctl-cmd for down scroll and ctl-shift for up scroll, which works conveniently with my many key-assigned Word macros, since my left hand is always at that corner of the keyboard while editing in Word. After getting used to it, it works ok. A new version (v4) is promised soon, so I will wait to evaluate that before buying.
is that any easier than just using the arrows? I took the suggestion from another list and got a new mouse. The scroll is much smoother, the keys almost silent when I click, and it scrolls much faster than my old mouse which was many years old.
I found the Apple Magic Mouse to be a disaster, always jumping the document rightward. But you're right, I should experiment with a simple up-and-down scroll wheel -- thanks for the suggestion.
