Scroll Bar arrows Gone?
The verical scoll bar arrows are no longer there on OS X 10.7.
Any way in System prefs or Safari prefs to get them back?
Imac 20, Mac OS X (10.6.6), 10.7 installed

Unbelievable. I cannot believe Apple would get rid of the scroll arrows. It is driving me crazy. I am constantly moving my mouse to the bottom right corner of the screen without thinking...I don't want to have to memorize new multi-key shortcuts. This is nonsense. Please Apple, PUT THE SCROLL ARROWS BACK.
And while you're at it how about giving us back cover art flow in iTunes too?!? Suck it up, pay the guy that invented it, and give us back the feature that hooked me on iTunes in the first place!
So disappointed.
Yeah, tell Apple. But if they were not returned in Yosemite then that handful of old people who cannot accept change are out of luck/

Apple’s decision to remove the scroll bar arrows has hampered my productivity to the extent that I am very seriously considering jumping ship - something I thought I would never do. Clearly Apple don’t appreciate or understand how many of us work with our documents and how frustratingly inconvenient it is not to have the scroll bar arrows. The scroll bar slider is not accurate enough in large documents (and even in small ones for those with limited dexterity). And moving the cursor with the keyboard arrows involves either time-wasting repeated keying up, down, left or right in order to get it into the correct position before the page display moves OR having to reposition the cursor with the mouse or trackpad before keying up, down, left or right … and then having to move the cursor back to where it was before in order to carry on inputing text, and losing one's place in the process.
Navigating large documents with images is a particular nightmare. If you want to view the whole of an image, moving the display by clicking either side of the slider doesn’t work because almost invariably only part of the image will be visible and adjusting the display with the cursor means it jumps around according to the position or size of others images or the position of page breaks.
My comments have already been sent direct to Apple but it appears there are those here who also don’t fully appreciate the inconvenience that has been caused.
SScroll bars are still there just not the arrows. Haven't been for a couple of years. Many many millions of users have moved on. A handful have not.

Same few people complaining time after time. It dies off for a long time, then some troll wants to flame it up again. If you counted the amount of serious and on topic posts here, or counted the people with legitimate concerns, you could probably erase over 20 pages. (27 pages not in a Troubleshooting forum)

I'm afraid to say the troll is right. Apple has clearly made the decision to go with the 'home' market not the business market. They still have a good set up with Final Cut and Avid, but you have to buy special equipment. For the most part, macs are toys now. If you want to work machine you have little choice other than Windows (unless, as indicated above, you are in the video industry -- and even then prepare to PAY!). There is some good news, though. The last to OS updates have been free, so you can spend your money on a good Windows system and still keep your hobby machine on a respirator. For a few years at least. Eventually the hardware just won't be up to running the software. By then I figure I'll be totally weaned. So it works for me.

Hi Adam. You are posting about iPhone and iOS which has nothing to do with this post which is about Mavericks OSX. Try starting you own thread giving details of your issues.

Just dropping back to bump this and add a few updates. Forgot my work PC and had to try to do some editing on my MacBook Pro. Was using Microsoft word 2007 (I think). It was a nightmare. To see to pages at a time, one the 'working' document the other a copy with edits from a colleague I needed to put it in the mode where the trackpad will make it slide in all directions instead of just up and down (ie the ONLY directions needed for serious text work). Of course, this would not have been a problem in earlier incarnations as I would have had the scroll arrows. Knowing apple is a dead end, I consulted Microsoft (I really would prefer to keep using the mac, it's just unusable now). They had a suggestion that I view NOT in the editing mode... but of course I am editing, so that was wasn't terribly helpful. They did point out this was not the first complaint on this issue, but their program had to be run on the mac and there was little they could do about it. They, of course, suggested I update to their cloud service, but that's isn't a solution either. I don't know how much influence on apple third party developers have on apple - especially that one, but hopefully they will lean on them to repair this regression apple has made.
Nothing to bump up. Scroll bar arrows have not been seen in the last four OSX releases. Do you really think apple will bring them back now?
Pete
Of course they could repair this error at any time. Have some faith. Apple isn't perfect. How long did they try to beat the dead horse that was itools/.mac/mobileme until they finally gave it up shut it down and finally came up with the half way decent product that is icloud? It's still nowhere near dropbox, but for music it works pretty great. We just need to keep reminding them, over and over of how much what they have done ***** and they will eventually fix it.
Oddly, you are the bobble head, but in reality I have more faith in them than you.
The arrows are back in Adobe Indesign CC. I've now started writing everything there.
But if Adobe can do it, everyone else can.
Still waiting for this option to come back. Let's get moving, this HP is no fun.
Slow Day, Scott? 🙂
Pete
Just bumping it back up. Thanks for the assist.
