Does MagicJack work with Lion? Should I wait to upgrade since I use MagicJack?

I am wanting to upgrade to Lion, but I can't get a clear answer from MagicJack.

Does anyone know if it works with Lion?

iMac 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

As I do not use MagicJack at the moment, I can't tell you for sure, but it will probably work. It is an Intel application (it doesn't even work on the older PowerPC machines) and so it won't be affected by the lack of Rosetta in Lion. However, there may be other compatibility issues. If you have an external dirve or more than one Macintosh, you could install Lion on one of those and test it yourself.

Or perhaps someone else has already tested it?

Magicjack works on 10.6.8 or Lion, unfortunately your machine has to be dedicated for it to work reliably. In other words, unless you dedicate your machine for exclusive Magicjack use while you use its phone service, every time you launch an application, you have to quit the application and reboot for it to actually work again. I've found that I have to turn off the Airport Firmware updater under the options as shown in this thread

If I'm using Airport, otherwise every couple weeks or so, Magicjack will fail to work at random because the base station is looking for someone to update its firmware or check if the firmware needs updating. So far I've managed to upgrade the firmware to 7.6.1, and install the 10.6.8 Flashback Java update, and it still works. Magicjack has this central place to make sure your Magicjack is not corrupted, where you can redownload the software:

http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/magicJackSetup.dmg Lastly, we got the following advice for the Magicjack hooked up machine

Theodore: Please click the Apple icon >> Select System Preferences >> then click Network icon

Theodore: Then click on Advance button on the right bottom

Theodore: Then click on DNS tab

Theodore: Then on the DNS Server window...click the + button below and type in 67.90.152.122

Theodore: Then click the + button again and type in n: 67.107.71.186 and click OK

If you have more than your Magicjack set up, a router or Airport Extreme with OpenDNS DNS numbers works just fine with this:

If you are on 10.6.x it should work just fine. When you insert the Magic Jack, it should just load software (thats what mine did) If not, go to their website and download the software. The install it from there. My install on my 10.6.x machine went fine. I only had issues on 10.7.x. I am sorry I can't be of more help.
