iTunes won't sync after Lion 10.7 install

I've looked around and it appears that this issue has been coming up in a few different iterations, I've tried some of the Apple Help hardwiring and nothing is working yet.

It's this simple. My iPhone and iPods synced up fine with Snow Leopard las week but do not open iTunes or appear when iTunes 10.4 are opened.

I've tried reinstalling iTunes and the old procedures under http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3540

Nothing working yet.

Thanks Peter and xindl,

Looks Like I got the MacBook Pro working, but the 2008 era iMac still isn't responding. I tried everything a couple of times, but to no avail. Now, the log of the iMac 7,1 shows

As for trashing I've used both App Cleaner and the older App Zapper. App Cleaner helped identify and clean out all of the old PPC apps that were only going to take up room. Folks should know that they have to change the preferences in App Cleaner a bit to allow iTunes to be trashed.

So I have one computer syncing, but the iMac 7,1 is being stubborn. I Have an iMac 9,1 that I haven't upgraded to Lion yet, hopefully things will go better there.

I was having the same problems and this worked, although deleting via finder didn't.

If you don't want to use some other app, simply open terminal and type in the following commands. NOTE: $ is the prompt for those not used to unix.

$ cd /Applicaitions

$ sudo rm -R iTunes.app

NOTE: you will be prompted for an administrator password.

I followed the rest of the steps, plugged my iPad back in and it began synching.

Thanks for the tip, this was quite a hassle.

I did what peter_lindeman did but with a little short cut and it also worked absolutely fine:

- shutdown iTunes

- unplug iPhone

- go to Finder and then go to that /System/... folder

- remove AppleMobileDevices.ktext

- install iTunes again (you can watch how the deleted file appears again during installation process)

- start iTunes

- plug in iPhone

done

I tried this myself, but when I reconnect my iPhone 3GS, iTunes (10.6.1) first recognizes it, the wheel spins a bit, then the phone disappears from the device list. My New iPad works fine, however.

I don't know when this "broke" as I haven't connect the iPhone to iTunes for quite a while. I just want to make sure I can back it up for when I upgrade to the iPhone 5 (whenever that's coming out). However, I may be out of luck on that idea.

Update: Even though I don't see the iPhone in the device list, I can still sync it (from the dropdown menu). I'll see what happens when (and if) it finishes. I'd like to be able to access the device within iTunes in order to adjust preferences & such ....
