How Do I Remove Items From Launchpad?

Hello All

I would like to know how to remove items from launchpad without deleting them from Lion? I've Googled for it, but can not find anything. I've only read about deleting apps from launchpad by clicking and holding on an app? and an "X" will appear? I haven't seen that either. But I just want to know how to remove items without actually deleting them. Thanks!

Yes if you hold in a app it appears the X like in a iphone but if you delete it it deletes from your application folder and then from your system so carefull.

This only works for Apps down loaded from the Apple applications. Anything else from the Internet will not respond to the hold down, check the X, or drag into trash.

To get rid of unwanted Icons showing up on the Launchpad, the following suggested by someone in the commmunity helped me so much by suggesting the following.

Go to Spotlight

Enter the name of what it is you want to delete into trash (example: Google Chrome, or, Gmail, etc.)

Once you see what you want to get rid of, drag that icon into the trash. Miracle!

Thanks so much!

I updated Google Chrome the other day. I use it as an alternative browser to Safari now and then course I don‘t care for Adobe Flash updaters bugging me every effin hour. Plus and I use adblockers, which break some sites. So I install Chrome only to find that upon installing it those effin‘ a-holes from Google have dumped some extra icons in lauchpad I didn‘t ask for and I did not give permission for: Youtube and Google search. I use DuckGoDuck for a reason, so eff Google search and I don‘t care for a Youtube redirect in Launchpad to see effin‘ cat videos quicker. I can type that **** in my browser myself If I get bored.

So: boo Google! Don‘t be effin‘ evil and get stuffed.

Now, the regular method to delete those effers does not work, of course. Google, of course, made sure to flag that X to off. Please, Apple, please please pretty please with sugar on top: disable the option for app developers to block that deletion X in Launchpad. It‘s a nightmare.

Hey OP: ............................................................................... ..... Did you ever find how to do this... people here seam to be incapable of reading...

Requested behavior: REMOVE app from LAUNCHPAD, but at the same time KEEPING THE F!@# APP IN FINDER

example: ATFViewer (from Animate, adobe CC-2017).

- Keep App (aka, do not remove) (aka, do not delete) (aka, THE APP IS NEEDED)

- Remove from Launchpad ONLY!

sorry OP for the rhetoric in this reply, but reading this thread and filtering all the posts from people that don't read ****** me off and I gave up...

Did you ever solve this.......?

thanks OP!!!
