Can't sign into iTunes Store - endless loop. Help!!

I am running iTunes 10.4 under OS X 10.7. All of a sudden I can't sign into my iTunes Store account. I am entering the correct password, but it just keeps asking me for my Apple ID and password over and over again. I enter that information, and it keeps asking me again and again. This only just started happening - that was well after I upgraded to Lion, so I know that's not the reason.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do about it? How can I fix this?

Dear Babaganoosh

I have almost the same problem, I loaded a value of CHF 30 into my personal account. I am able to buy music via my iPhone 4, using the iTunes app. On the same time, while trying to do the samie on my computer, it doesn't work. but in my iTunes account the value of each song was deducted as it should be. Still not able to enter the iTunes store. Will try tomorrow again (MET 20.30)

I am having the same problems!! I have been working on this endless loop issue since Friday afternoon. I'm getting the need to verify your email notice, yet it shows verified and I can log in to apple, just not iTunes.

As frustrating as this situation is, I'm glad to read I'm not alone in this craziness!

I've had 4 email responses from appleitunes support and none have worked In fact!id already completed their suggested steps of uninstalling and other minor suggestions.

I'm considering just starting a new apple I'd. I've backed up all iTunes files. So my question to the forum is this:

If I create a new appleid, is there a way to add in previous iTunes music and apps to the new appleid? Will it let me import the backups I made on cd? Will it recognize them as my purchases?

Very frustrated!!! All this started because I purchased an iPad2 and wanted to change user name on account. Now 4 Days later, cant buy any apps!

Thanks!

Same problem for me and it is getting worse. Updating apps does not work any more. "I have to logon to the iTunes Store first or use my AOL account.' I don't have an AOL account...

What I noticed in iTunes, my iPhone is not connected, only my iPad and my Windows machine. For some reason my iPhone is not connected.

I'm also not able to set automatic downloads. I also get in an endless loop.

Anyone a solution?

I'm having the same infinity loop problem with my new mac mini. All of our other Apple devices can sign in to our apple ID to purchase from iTunes. But my new main computer cannot. I have signed out of iTunes and signed back in, but still the same reoccurring dialog to sign into itunes to view account info. Not indication of anything I entered wrong, just the same dialog popping back up. Argh! So now my new, primary machine cannot make purchases from iTunes and I can find no solution on iTunes support. maddening.

EDIT:

Re-entering my account info via my iPhone solved it. Thank you. Now my iTunes account accessible through my computer.

Really poor on Apple's part. Thinking seriously about cashing in my APPL stock while the getting's good.

I received this email from Apple and this corrected the problem for me... I only had to reset the iTunes cache

1) Open iTunes

2) At the top menu, click File > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac)

3) In the Preferences menu, click the Advanced tab

4) In the Advanced menu, you should see a button that says "Reset Cache". Please click this button.

After clearing the caches as explained above, please check your Internet browser settings and be sure that any settings titled "automatically detect settings" are turned off (or the option not selected). After doing this, follow these steps to sign in to your account:

1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. You can download the latest version free of charge from the Apple website:

About the 'SC Info' folder trick which is sometimes used:

On my system, I type "Go to folder" and then view by columns, as is normal when employing this trick. However, the SC Info folder shows up GREYED OUT in the column. And when I right-click and send this folder to the trash, it doesn't actually go to the trash - it just disappears. And the trick doesn't even work, either.

Anyone know how to fix this? Or why the folder would be greyed out like this?

I have had the same problem for years. Every couple of months iTunes decides it doesn't like you anymore so it insists you change your password which you do and it still won't let you in. I've got a small notebook completely full of scribbled out iTunes passwords I've had to use just to buy music from them.

I wonder if PC users also have this problem. There seems to be an eternal list of interface problems from iMac to absolutely everything. I've totally given up on iTunes now and just use the youtube to mp3 converter. That works every single time.

On that note, I've also given up on the iMac and am looking forward to delivery of my new Asus PC.

Just found out it seems I somehow DO have two iTunes accounts (I guess I accidentally set one up using my old @me.com account at some point ~ my fault for just mindlessly following prompts while downloading something, probably). So, I have a handful of apps that I can't update using my 'regular' iTunes account. So, I logged out of that one, logged-in using my me.com one and... like everyone else, iTunes status bar at the top of the page scrolls endlessly, blue & white barbershop pole, without actually loading.

BTW, I'm using a 2011 MacBookPro and I have NOT downloded Mavericks. I'm still on 10.8.4 (I forget which cat that is).
