Exchange Mail Issues after Lion Upgrade
Is anyone else experiencing major issues with your Exchange email account(s) in Mail after upgrading to Lion?

This sounds like a setting that has to be done on the server and can't be set if we have hosted Exchange. Can you confirm? If that's the case:
1. I don't have control of the hosted server and
2. Won't turning this off send a lot of info unencrypted which is not ideal?
At least if ti sworks it's a workaround, but obviously Apple changed something that broke it between Mail 4 and 5.
1. If you are in a hosted environment you will not have access to this setting.
2. You are correct that it will send info in the clear. I am not really seeing this as a workaround more of problem diagnois.
Agreed. I think at this point, it's clear that it's not a problem with the local files as we've all rebuilt, them and recreated our accounts, etc. All we can do know is wait for Apple to acknowledge the problem (if they haven't already) and then issue a patch. From experience, it seems like we might have at least a few weeks wait on our hands.
Update. After reenabling the Require SSL optiuon I changed the server to Ignore Client certificates. That worked. I am using ssl and everything apprears to be working now.
There was this from aroszak earlier in this thread. Did you ever try this:
1.In Finder, open your Utilities folder and double-click Keychain Access
2.Once Keychain Access loads, in the menubar, click "Keychain Access" -> "Preferences"
3.In the Preferences window, click "Certificates"
4.Change the dropdown for "Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP):" to "Off"
5.Change the dropdown for "Certificate Revocation List (CRL):" to "Off"
6.Close the Preferences window
7.Quit Keychain Access
8.And you're done!
This didn't help me! I had probs with iCal and the Adress Book. Mail ran perfect. I didn't get an error message, it seemed to correctly log in but there was no data and syncing.
My solution:
I reinstalled the ssl-certificate in the Keychain Access (just doubleclicked it) and after that everything worked perfectly.
Somehow iCal and Adress Book seem not to correctly install ssl-certificates.
Cheers,
Carsten
I deleted the post since the answer was not throughly tested. Apologies.

SOLVED!
First, go to Keychain prefrences, certificates tab, and turn off the two otpions.
Second, reset the Keychain.
As soon as I reset the keychain, my Mail was working!
I did the Keychain fix and it worked for me. I didn't do a reset and it still worked. This method seems to work for some and not for others. Maybe if it doesn't work, make sure you do the reset and maybe even a reboot. If it still doesn't work, there might be a few different problems or different scenarios like on a domain or on the company LAN vs. hosted Exchange, etc.
I'm on hosted Exchange and it worked for me.
I have a slightly different problem to the others, I think, although of course it may be related.
Essentially, Lion Mail loses the connection to the exchange (2010) server, every now and then.
It does not usually last much over 24 hours before going, or less than 12.
All the other accounts continue to work fine (IMAP, POP, Gmail), but it simply fails to get new email from the Exchange account, and it is not possible to delete from the inbox of that account. Strangely, I think it sometimes succeeds in moving messages to Mail folders, but when it does they don't get deleted from the Inbox, and so I can end up with duplicate messages in the target folder and Inbox.
Doing "Get Mail" does not kick it enough to work, and so restarting Mail is the only solution - and sometimes Mail hangs and has to be Force Quit.
Outlook will happily connect to the same set of accounts while this is happening.
I don't see any problems with iCal at this stage, but can't be sure.
There are quite a lot of people here who are running Lion Mail to the same Exchange server, and none of them report any problems.
Just found someone with probably the same problem:
Does not works for me.
I tried all ideas that were posted here in the forum and nothing has helped.
I still cannot connect to my companies Exchange Server 2007 SP1 with Update Rollup 5.
It works before with Snow leopard with no problem and it still works with all other devices.
So I hope that Apple get it fixed very soon as it stops me from working with Lion and read my companies eMails.
Talked to Apple support and Apple is aware of the situation and they are looking into it. No time as to when a fix will be ready though. Use webmail is the workaround for now. Persoanlly I will just wait until folders disappear and then Rebuild or use my iPad to file messages. Not the best solution, but what else can we do?
Hi.
Can you give us some detail of which of the problems they are aware of please?
Thanks.
My particular issue was that Exchange folders were disappearing from Mail 5. After they all disappeared after several hours, I could hit Rebuild and they would come back. It seems like a similar problem that everyone is having (perhaps related to the certificates), though it may be manifesting itself in different ways. But if you're not having this exact issue, I would call Apple yourself and get your problem logged with them to maker sure they have it on record.
The scary thing was that when I talked to the level 1 tech and mentioned Hosted Exchange, he said he didn't know what that was.
i am experiencing the same thing. very frustrating.
