what is classed as 'other' on lion about this mac storage?

Not sure what SOM is (google didn't help), looks like a folder created by an App you installed.

Now, as its ext is TMP, then its my guess that it's safe to delete. You can delete from Finder (Enter: ⇧⌘G, then Library/som, ⌘A and delete), or from Omni.

I do a lot of video editing on my Mac and recently saw I was running low from a 1TB HDD.

I read this thread and found it so helpful.

Turns out my FCP had 390GB of data that was entirely old.
