Itunes Artwork Problems with Lion

I've noticed some problems lately with Lion and artwork from Mp3 files no longer being seen in the Finder. Im a new Mac user (only a few weeks) and had lots of issues with itunes from the data transfer but finally was able to get everything working (after 8 hours in the retail store)

Anyway when Lion was installed, there were some hiccups apparently in the 10.4 itunes download.

Now, since it has downloaded there seems to be a new problem with certain files' artwork no longer being recognized in the Finder. (I'm not even sure if that matters - the artwork is showing up in itunes and ipod but not in the finder). This is especially affecting new downloaded tracks (not from itunes)..I can add artwork but it will not appear in the Finder...and it also is affecting some older files and folders that did not have any problems. For certain artists with multiple albums, the artwork keeps disappearing...if you are able to add it for one album, it disappears for the second album...if you fix it for the second album, it disappears again for the first. So just wondering if anybody else is having these issues...or has any ideas to fix it. Id really like to have the artwork in the finder; it just makes me feel more comfortable after all the problems I've had. And so far everytime someone at Applecare or Retail Store tells me to do stuff on my computer, it has just screwed things up even more.

Update 104.1 fixes this issue, lets download it and see if it works...

Apple’s release notes are as follows:

iTunes 10.4.1 provides a number of improvements, including:

- Fixes a problem where the media keys on some third-party keyboards work inconsistently with iTunes

- Addresses issues with adding artwork to songs and videos

Yeah, I just tried out, I selected a song, created an mp3 version of it, and the album artwork didn't embed the cover art, 10.3 was working great for me, if only apple hadn't stated that it fixed the album art problem i would never updated to 10.4.1, *****.

Sorry all for that, so, do not update to 10.4.1, it doesn't fix the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, the latest version doesn't fix anything. The problem is still there.

I have the same issue ever since I upgraded to Lion. After installing the latest update artwork still does not show in finder.

Has anyone found any solution to this problem? I'm getting extremely annoyed everytime I see a gray musical note on Bowtie.

Im a new Mac user and not a techie by any means - I dont even know what Bowtie is. What I found works with my itunes artwork is to just wait 12-24 hours and then recopy the artwork. I dont know why that makes a difference but it does - and then the artwork appears with the file in the Finder. When Ive tried contacting Apple Support, theyve said they dont know anything about this.

There's nothing to do, except do not upgrade to 10.4, but, hopefully, iTunes 10.5 will fix this problem, I'm pretty sure iTunes 10.5 will come out October 14th on the iPhone 4S release, I will not upgrade to 10.5 untill I'm sure it fixes the problem, right now i'm running 10.3 and it works perfect on Lion.

Nope. Lion 10.7.2 and iTunes 10.5 here, and still seeing the that nice gray musical note. What's going on? Didn't Apple catch this bug yet?

On a side note, not sure if this is related to the same issue, but when I use the Home Sharing feature with my iPhone 4 (iOS 5), I see all the album covers screwed in the album view.

Same here. Upgraded to newest version of lion 10.7.2 and newest version of iTunes 10.5 and I'm still getting the empty artwork image in Bowtie.

Also there doesn't seem to be any pattern I can descern for older album artwork pre-Lion upgrade. Some have it, some don't. Also some albums that come with artwork embedded work. But if I have to add the artwork in lion it doesn't show up.

I noticed this problem a long time ago. I do not rely on my itunes library for all my music since I am a DJ and have music all over the place. It's really annoying to have tunes on my desktop that I am considering for a set and not be able to distinguish them.

I have called AppleCare and they are very much aware of the problem. They were able to look at a snow leopard machine, drag a song from itunes to the desktop and see the artwork still in tact. The same person did this on a machine running Lion and saw ony the grey music note.

They do not know how long it will take to fix as I am sure in their eyes, this is pretty minor. But I can say first hand, they ARE aware and hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Forget about Itunes, simply take 2 folders with the same file...

They are aware of this bug since Lion came out. And Snow Leopard had the same bug once that took about 3 months to be solved with an iTunes update.

There seems to be some confusion as to what the problem is. It's not a Lion issue, it's iTunes. I have tested clean installs on Snow Leopard and Lion, starting with iTunes 10.3.1. Before updating iTunes to 10.4/10.5, the artwork displays correctly on Snow Leopard and Lion.

if it is an itunes issue, why on earth does it affect the rest of the computer? music sitting in the
"Muisc Folder" has grey music notes, music on the desktop has grey music notes, music sitting anywhere at all, has grey music notes.

what exactly does iTunes have to do with all this. that is just one program.
