Updated to Lion and now The Sims 3 freezes. Any ideas?

I was bloody fustrated too, I've been having to use my fathers Mac Pro to get the benefits of using Sims again seen as he hasn't updated due to certain programs not working with the release. Relatively annoying as I've tried numerous times to play during a holiday of a month getting quite bored.

Please fix these issues!

I hope this new update will fix the problem! Anyone knows when the version OSX lion 10.7.2 will be launched? I can't wait to play the sims 3 on my new macbook pro...

my problem is exactly like the 2nd comment I have a White MB late2009. The game worked correctly in Snow Leopard, after upgrade to lion the game starts and freezes.

I have the exact same problem, worked on snow leopard perfectly and now let's me load the game and create-a-sim but once I start playing as the sim it freezes, I have a MB 13-inch mid 2010. Really hope this update comes out soon! EA need to sort this out.

Having the same problem and just talked to tech support; they just told me a patch for Lion will be released tomorrow morning. I hope this works!

Are there any news?

Do you know if the same problem occour with iMac (with 6750M)?

I've downloaded the last patch, the update went perfectly but when I started playing, and not even 5 minutes later the game froze again !

Our problem is still unresolved, I think we're going to wait a long time until The Sims 3 re-running like on snow leopard !

Because Lion is the most defective OSX ever. NOTHING works or is as stable like in Snow, be it Graphics Drivers or Quicktime or TimeMachine or Airport.. all is broken in 10.7.x

I agree completely. EA should be letting its customers kow that the program will not currently work or at least be open to refunding buyers the cost for the game since it's currently unusable.

Unfortunately no one known when Lion 10.7.2 will be launched. Not even the Apple employees. Apple generally gives them the info 24 hours before it's going to occur, same with its products.

The problem with Sims3 and OS 10.7 Lion is the video card. It's the Nvidia Geforce 9400m, and The Geforce 320m. If your mac has a Geforce 9600, or ATI you will be fine. The problem is the video driver which I hope Apple fixes soon.

There is other web pages that I looked at that gave me this information.

Here is a update to my previous post: Sims 3 is now fixed! Open the app on Lion and have the program go through the update process. There is a update that EA put out that fixes the problem with the video card. I updated the game myself and tried it, and it works. It no longer crashed as soon as the family got loaded. I was able to control everything in the game.

Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1 (11B26)

But the game still freezes when I tried moving the family in. I've reinstalled a couple of times and yet the same thing happens. And when I tried downloading the updates on the Sims 3 page, it doesn't even finish downloading and the game launches. I'm not very sure about the difference between Nvidia Geforce or the one that I have. Please help, if possible, thank you!

If you check the Sims 3 Forums (and this thread) you'll see it's 50-50. For most, the 1.25 patch from EA fixes it, but the fix seems to work for all graphics cards and the errors seem to be expansion pack related possibly as most people report the base game working. Make sure the game is at version 1.25, and if possible remove expansion packs 1 by 1 to try to isolate the issue. Good luck.

With the latest upgrade of Lion released yesterday (10.7.2), the game do not freeze anymore, as far as I'm concerned on my macbook pro mid 2010. I played for about an hour and no sign of freezing !

I don't know if it's the same for those who have uploaded 10.7.2 !

Maybe the problem is resolved after 3 months of Lion !
