Airplay issues in iTunes 10.4

Just about to purchase Lion but still running Snow Leopard. Upgraded iTunes yesterday though to 10.4.

Problem is this. I've got my 1st Gen Apple TV (connected to surround sound) and an Airport Express (connected to speakers) in another room hooked up via Airplay - or at least I did have!

Now, when I attempt to 'tick' to add these two speakers to the Airplay icon in iTunes it blinks (milli-seconds) as though it's trying to add but then doesn't on either ATV or AE. These worked beautifully before I updated iTunes. Is this a known issue? Would it be rectified (knowing the 10.4 update is geared towards Lion) once I have updated to Lion?

It's a pain in the rear so if anyone can help I'd appreciate. I've not really seen same on here so I guess it's just me?!? 😟

Working now for 10 minutes... 9 minutes more than ever yet...!!

Thanks to those who have helped it get this far.

This link contained another helpful reply which helped me (with a screenshot) identify where exactly to change the IPv6 related text in the plist file, as my question above referred to. Copied here for anyone who might be having this same issue:

Used TextWrangler to make the changes. Then had to hard reset all my hardware.

Now we jammin 🙂

Just to let you guys know i had similar problems wouldnt let me sync and kept closing when optimizing sync of photos. I de instaleed the latest version of itunes and re instaled an earlyer version and all works ok. Windows 7 is what im running.

Still successfully resolved. Thanks everyone. To anyone who needs to take care of this, disable IPv6 using the steps above for OSX Lion. You'll need to edit a plist file - you can do it in terminal as suggested by one of the posts above, I'd recommend TextWrangler for average user.

iTunes 10.4.1 for Windows 7 32bit solved the airplay connections for me. Apple didn't tell us it would, but by this point I've come to expect Apple keeping people in the dark. I like to know why things didn't work and how patches fixed them (like Microsoft tells me, for example; a good company) - Apple still has a lot to learn.
