"Remove attachments" in Mail (Lion) is disabled and I cant remove the files from the emails I have sent. it worked fine before I switched to Lion and kept my Mail folder in Libary small. Anybody else having this problem?

Excellent, switching back to the classic layout of Mail in the settings helps! The paperclips re-appear and I can remove the attachments. You can switch back to the new design afterwards.
I found the exact some solution, when trying to remove sent attachments.
The work around that mention "Mark as Sent" don't seem to make much difference. Has anyone found a better solution?
Ah, made it work. Strange that it doesn't work when you do the same thing manually. Thanks anyway.
In case anyone was wondering, this issue is not resolved in 10.8.3. Apple bugreporter lists the issue as a duplicate.
I guess we wait for 10.8.4...

Whoops – after two days #2 works again. Fixed itself, I didn't do anything.
The update works for me too. Not a year too early.
Doesn't fix the problem for me.
Unbelievable: it worked for me initially and now does not work: did Apple roll back the update?
Does it still work for you? I am unable to delete the attachments now.
