Lion and Keynote Problems

I live in iWorks and have a VERY large Keynote presentation with lots of movies (1.1Gb) that I work off of. It worked great in SL, but after upgrading to Lion, I continually get the rotating ball of death loading Keynote, random times working in Keynote, and saving the presentation. It will eventually, after minutes, clear the ball but this is ridiculous. Any ideas?

Those of us who have depended on Keynote for our livelihood must now scamble for alternatives like PowerPoint for the Mac. I hate having to depend on Microsoft but Apple gave me no choice.

1) Apple has contacted several of us who have posted in this thread, so they are working on it. I've spoken to them personally on this issue.

2) If you base your livelihood on .0 software, then you will most likely always be poor.

3) Powerpoint is always a good alternative to Keynote.

You truly are coocoo.

People depend on software all the time for their livelihood. What world do you live in? Not in the West or China or Japan that's for sure. Could you imagine what would happen ifPhotoshop had these issues? The longer this takes to fix, the closer to Apple comes ensuring that Keynote will not be more widely used.

PowerPoint is a weak alternative to Keynote... That's why people have grown to depend on Keynote. If PowerPoint were a reasonable alternative, nobody would be using it.

I am glad Apple has contacted you...But Apple contacting a few people (they contacted me as well) has not seemed to fix the issue.

Let's not mistake effort for results. I have never done that in my business. I expect more. That's why I have been so successful.

It seems your expectation of mediocrity and weak excuses works for you. It has never been acceptable to me.

You should read what I said, no professional should ever depend on .0 software, or software out the gate for less then 2 weeks for their livelihood (or a month for that matter), and without a backup plan - in this case, a working SL system. Anyone who is, well, sorry about that but the world works differently in reality, and things will always go wrong in a bubble-fantasy land where software is always working immediatly after an OS upgrade.

Guys, Do not kill each other. Aplle is totally responsible for this mess not us. It is a shame that they (apple) do not communicate on this matter and do not offer any solution what so ever,

I am an university lecturer and a big defender for mac till now. My presentations are all messed up and I have lost houres to save my neck. What they did to us is unforgiveable and Ill be thinking twice next time before buying anything from this guys.

My trust is badly damaged and I dont think I will ever trust this guys again. Like you guys I hope we receive a solution asap to limit the great damage we have already suffered.

Sorry it didn't work for you, but for me it made a huge difference on two different Macs. Keynote was unusable before I made the change in the pref panel - it seemed to enter an endless cycle of autosaves when I entered slide sorter view, requiring a force quit. That's no longer happening.

I agree that the situation is intolerable, though. Hard to believe it passed QC.

I bought my first mac just because I wanted the cube effect that only keynote could render at that time....

We bought theirs machines, we paid for the lion, and we purchase keynote.... am i wrong or apple should be the one responsible so solve this...is there just one single software engineer to solve this??? and now WE are trying to move around to solve a incompatibly issue !?!?!

I am sorry to trough this but I am really upset...

This is my acceptable at all !!!!!!!!!

If you use Keynote, DO NOT UPGRADE TO LION! I'm waiting...waiting...waiting.

I've upgraded with no problems.

Why would you tell people not to upgrade because a tiny percentage of people are having problems with Keynote and Lion?

Remember, based on the discussion boards, it may seem like there are a lot of people who are having problems but that's not true. Those that are having no issues with Keynote generally don't come on the support boards and post--only those with issues.

I'm sure that if there were a "positive" discussion board, those posts would far outweigh the "negative" postings.

It's not fair to tell people not to upgrade because you are having problems.

Sorry to those that are having problems and I hope your issue is resolved soon.

Totally agree. If you depend so much on the software, why take a chance? You should have fist done some research to make sure that there are no issues with the upgrade and in doing so wait to upgrade.
