Lion and Keynote Problems

I live in iWorks and have a VERY large Keynote presentation with lots of movies (1.1Gb) that I work off of. It worked great in SL, but after upgrading to Lion, I continually get the rotating ball of death loading Keynote, random times working in Keynote, and saving the presentation. It will eventually, after minutes, clear the ball but this is ridiculous. Any ideas?

This is the most stupid remark I ever heard. We do not ask people not to upgrade but warn those who work with Keynote. But above this all we just ask Apple to come with a solution for people working with Keynote and believe me there are a lot of us specially when you are an academic or lecturer.

Again if you are happy with Lion, it is good for you so why dont you post just a posetive remark to outwigh ours in stead of asking us to deny the problems we are having.

I agree with you, if there are people who doesn´t have the problem, good for them.

I have been an Apple user for several years and never had a situation like this, but since most of us rely on the use of Keynote for our work is disapointing to have an issue with an original Apple software.

Still we may be a minority, but Apple cannot disregard our opinion and it probably is starting to be a bigger issue.

Anyone has received feedback from Apple?

So far, what we know that may be the cause of the problem is the autosave feature, and sometimes the presentation crashes during the play.

I have used Keynote and not crashed my presentation but sometimes the keyboard freezes.

I have given up on keynote and gone back to powerpoint for mac. i simply cannot waste my time anymore. it's sad because i won't be able to use keynote for presentations for keynote for this year's conference, which i have always done.

Guess i will have to be uncool this time and use powerpoint. Sad loss for apple. I will just have to stop using keynote. Can't revert my files back to keynote IF they come up with a fix.

I had no problem creating a presentation with Keynote in Lion. However, during the session in which I used it I had all kinds of issues. Playing the file as a slideshow was impossible. I couldn't navigate and got the beach ball constantly. I had to run it from the "edit" pages. Needless to say, transitions, moves, etc. did not work.

To make a bad situation worse I could not reopen the file. I need to reuse it for another session today but when I tried to reopen it it wouldn't open. ""The document doesn't have a valid file format." It's size reports as 0 bytes. Luckily I'd exported it as a .pdf which should get me through the session today but looks like it's back to PowerPoint for me until this mess gets straightened out.

When you say Resume is that the "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" under General Preferences?

Thanks

I've just switched off Auto-Locking and that has made a big difference - almost normal functioning...

My Keynote problems stopped since I turned off Resume and Auto-Locking in General and Time Machine preferences and then restarted, now back to smooth sailing! 🙂
