plist files like that normally reside in your Preferences folder inside the inanely hidden Library folder.

I can't find any "digihub" ones though. Can we get a full path to them please?

/Users/"username"/Library/Preferences/com.apple.digihub.plist. However, all you had to do was open your Preferences folder.

Apple are telling me my Superdrive is deceased, but it can read / play / rip from audio CDs and also play DVDs. It just won't read blank DVDs.

Create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the issue persists.

Try switching media it's not your drive it's the blank media your using. If you buy the media that is require for your super drive let say + or - that's one thing to look out for, the other thing is that most SuperDrive are very picky because it likes media that have been produce in Singapore, there is code that SuperDrive would have no problem in reading writing.

The problem may be that the DVD was cut in UDF format.

My internal Superdrive on my Early 2009 Mac Mini too has failed after the Lion upgrade (upgrade to Lion 10.7.5). I am unable to go back to SL because I can't read the CD and have no SL backup ( I only realized the drive was shagged a few weeks after the Lion upgrade). Disks, when inserted spin up and down and retry but then get spat out so i cannot reload the SL CD. Yes it could be a bad drive I agree but it seems most suspicious when it all worked on SL fine and the machine has not moved. I have tried PRAM reset, SMC reset, deleting the aforementioned *.plist files, and removing the mds.install.lock file also mentioned and nothing works. I still have a Superdrive that is 'bad'. I have CDs i want to rip and ones that i need to burn and need this to work. Sure I could upgrade to Mountain Lion but my searches also seem to indicate that this will make no difference and possibly compound the issue as there are identical issues being reported there. Suggestions anyone?

The solution posted by mcdado WORKED FOR ME. I have an out-of-warranty mid 2010 mac mini that also, at some point, stopped accepting discs. It may have actually stopped back when udner warranty; I don't use the drive very often.

Since discovering the issue, I have crawled through so many discussion groups and posts, and was quite ready to give up and order a replacement drive. Finally this fixed it. And, yes mcdado, I agree: it sounds insane but it works.

I only wish Apple (and I called them minutes ago, just to balk at their offer of approx $200 for in-store repair) had some sort of queued response for people calling in with this issue, even if out of warranty. Apple, I am a great fan of your products... which is why I know you can do better. Today was not your best moment.

Shortly; Mid 2011 Imac best machine ever, upgraded from Leopard to Lion know problems all working and then I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion booooom Super drive Broken... Went to istore sorry hardware problem, but why can the drive still read some discs. I can even install Windows 7 from a disc but can’t read DVD’s... This must be a Firmware fault... Reinstalled Lion still broken, THANX MOUNTAIN LION AWESOME.... FF
