Having sorted the fonts out (again!), thanks for the tip, I decided to target Safari.

I found that even with all extensions either uninstalled or (there were seven I wanted to keep if possible) disabled, the results were as follows:

Extensions OFF (as in Safari's ALL OFF): 02.40 - Safari opens and loads the page within a few seconds and functions normally.

Extentions ON but disabled: 03.10 - Safari loads the page in small chunks, is unresponsive (red in Activity Monitor) and is sluggish and unresponsive after the page has loaded.

Simply having extensions ON - even though they are all disabled - seems to be causing the problem.

Even with extensions OFF, this is still a lot slower than the 40s which it was taking with Snow Leopard and I am yet to see if the other problems I was having have been resolved, I'll have to review the situation after a day or so's use.

Hello Everyone,

After 3 weeks using Lion, it seems that everithing is staring to work normal. Follow some steps that I Followed and what happend to me since the begining. I Hope it Helps:

My Machine is a MBP 15" I7 with 8GB

- Running increadible slow after instalation = 40 Hours to index Spotlight / Increased a bit the speed but still not stutting down the system, only with a hard boot. More than 01 minute to turn on the machine and arround 2 inutes to open every program / application. Waited untill Spotlight Indexation.

- Still Runnig slow = Used Disk Utility before Booting the system (Alt pressed while booting) - System Found Several conflicts and solved. = Speed Improved

- System speed increased, but still not shutting down automatically - Mainly when using Office. When Office 11 was not opened, there were no Problems to shut down. This problem still affects me. The only way is to open office and to close programs, I Have to Manualy end the program (forcing to shut down). When I try to close direcly on the bar above (forgot the technical name - sorry), it doesn't seems to work. - Problem still stopping to shut down.

- System still slow when opening Paralells Desktop - Yesterday they launched an update that solved it.

- PS was very Slow - Followed the steps of some friends changing some configurations and worked. Some CS5 Softwares are still slower than when using SL, but I couldn't find why.

- Sometimes the spotlight begins again to index - Must wait / no other way discovered untill now.

In Summary - Still having problems with Office 11, mainly with Outlook - Sometimes it takes 10 to 15 minutes to open program and it crashes when trying to shut down SW and Computer. Accepting Suggestions !!!

Hope it helps, at least to increase Hope using Lion. Still Prefer SL.

I don't know if I'm an Exception, but mine (MBP Mid 2010 Core I7 8GB Ram) took 1 week incredible slow, almost stopping all activities, 1 week Running Ok and 1 week running Ok but with some Slow SW Problems. But even after 3 weeks, I'm still experiencing some problems with Office and Safari. Sometimes Spotlight starts indexing again and it generate some trouble running all programs (but it takes usually 5 minutes).

Lion is very slow please help!
