[lion] XCode 4.1 doesn't install with lion

first, sorry for my english...

I had an Imac 2010 with a hard drive 1.5 To who had 1 To free

1) i make upgrade snow leopard to lion

2) Xcode was installed for SL before i made upgrade

3) from appstore, i download XCode 4.1

4) few seconds after install begin, i received this message :

"The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Please consult /var/log/install.log for more details"

5) i decided to install lion from an usb key

6) i download for the second time XCode 4.1 but i received the same message

Could you help me please

if i open terminal and tape this "nano /var/log/install.log" i obtain this

I have just updated to Lion and also just updated XCode, or tried it at least. It breaks with the following log:

no idea for the moment...always DeveloperTools.pkg who is in problem

more strange....i went to install snow leopard, after erase my disk....

i download xcode from snow leopard and i obtain the same error.....

so, lion or snow leopard = problem....

something is wrong with DeveloperTools.pkg :-(

Fact is: the current XCode 4.1 from the AppStore doesn't install on a clean OSX Lion.

Where can we complain with Apple? The support pages are very confusing and I didn't find any easy way to file a complaint...

Or are we the only ones with this problem?

I've read an article on the OSXhints (http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20110721083509698).

Sometimes the ITunes helper prevent to install the XCode 4.1.

Unfortunately it doesn't works for me...:(

I fixed it by adding root ALL=(ALL) ALL to visudo, I saw a permission problem in the /var/log/install.log.

sudo visudo (I assume it opens vim)
i (insert mode)
add root ALL=(ALL) ALL (where ever)
ESC
:wq (save and quit)

I've checked dewey's suggestion...

however, on my system root had already all necessary permissions (so the suggested change was/is already active). So no, sorry, didn't help at all :-(

It works for me.

l.baum are you sure the /etc/sudoer file contains the following lines (actually the last one is the only important):

# Sample /etc/sudoers file.

# This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root.

# See the sudoers man page for the details on how to write a sudoers file.

root ALL = (ALL) ALL

But I already have another problem the installation is stuck around 98% (almost the end of the progress bar).
