50fps with FCE HD

I have purchased a new HD camera that records in 1080P/50fps. Can Final Cut Express HD edit this frame rate.

No, it cannot. The media needs to be converted to 25fps.

The camera will have different playback options in the menu system when you move the main switch from record to playback.

The setting currently selected must be for photo playback.

Change the menu to AVCHD from Picture.

You should also see 1080/50p. This won't work directly with FCE.

Shoot some footage using the highest quality interlaced mode (HA1920) and try again.

I think we may be getting somewhere now. I have converted the format using the camera to AVCHD. I also have a format called iframe which I believe is to use on Imac's. I have tried this and it produces a MP4 file which when imported in to FCE shoows the follwing info

It shows a frame size of 960 x 540 and under compressor H.264. Am I right in thinking that the AVCHD is the best format to record in.
