Kindle not working on Lion

I was not trying to say that my problem was fixed. It was more of an observation.

EVERYONE STOP...!!!!!!!!!!! SIMPLY DPOWNLOAD THE KINDLE APP FROM THE APP STORE.. WORKS PERFECTLY..

DELETE THE ORGINAL USING APP CLEANER PROGRAM WHICH GRABS ALL PARTS OF KINDLE APP.

The version which can be downloaded from App Store is ver.1.2.3, and I've known that works fine.

But the latest version which can be downloaded from the Amazon site is ver.1.6.0, and for this,

I've also faced the exactly same trouble as yours, i.e., cannot register / timed out error.

I want to have the latest one which equipped with built-in look-up dictionary function, because

the function is very crucial for me as a non-native English.

I hope you could post further updates if you get any feedback from Amazon techie.

The Amazon download doesn't work with Lion (yet). Just delete the Kindle app by dragging to the trash then download the Kindle App from the App store. It then works fine and seems up to date to me. What have you got to lose as the version you have and the Amazon version don't work. Try it!!!! You don't really need to do all the complicated stuff in the other posts. This way works just fine.

The Amazon version works just fine for me on 4 different systems all running Lion. Before trying the fix I posted earlier in this thread I was getting the same time-out no matter where the app was downloaded from.

Yes, I know the App Store version works fine.

(Actually, with compromise, I am now using the App Store version.)

But, as I mentioned, I need a built-in lookup dictionary feature, which seems to be available only with the latest version(1.6.0) on the Amazon site.

I've also tried the fix process that Raptorguy posted earlier many times, but the situation didn't change.

Thanks for kind advice, but the bottom line seems to be: Lion and kindle at present do not work together! Will this be solved I wonder in the immediat future?

just get it from the app store until amazon and apple work it out... works no problem

I have Kindle version 1.4.0 (31852) working fine under Lion. After upgrading to Lion, all I had to do was update KIndle, together with a bunch of other Apps.

Appstore worked for me too. I had reloaded, with Appcleaner, did a root find command, everything. Only the appstore version works with my lion system

This worked great for me - though I also made sure to download kindle from the app store and not from the amazon site. Thanks!
