Is it me, or are there major issues with iTunes update 10.4.0.80?

Is it me, or are there major issues with iTunes update 10.4.0.80? I cannot get it to connect to the iTunes store, nor will it back-up my iPhone. I also cannot paste album art. I see a lot of posts referring to the same issues, but no official replies from Apple. It's as if they are acting as if there is nothing wrong.

Similar problem here. Windows Vista 32 Bit, SP2. All systems ran great all night and then I accepted the automatic update for iTunes and now none of Apple software in my system works at all. I start out with an AppleSynceNotifier error message at start-up. Then I get iTunes Helper.exe error message stating it did not install properly, then I get iTunes error message stating iTunes did not install properly. The only reference I get is an Error 7 (Windows error 126). Safari similarly will not open and pops up error messages. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this newest version of iTunes. I have tried a simple repair of this newest version. AND, I have tried uninstalling Safari & iTunes newest versions and the installing an older version of just iTunes 9.1. NOTHING is working here. Interesting side note, even after both iTunes and Safari were allegedly uninstalled using the Apple website on-line installer/uninstaller, I restarted my system and got error messages tied to iTunes even though all iTunes files should have been removed. Anyway, reading this forum it seems there is a MAJOR problem with this update on Windows OS.

I don't understand much of Apple products since I use a Windows PC.



A few weeks ago, I changed my HTC for iPhone 4 and really started to like it.

For me it is very important to synchronise Outlook with my iPhone. Thus far it worked fine.

I downloaded some apps to synchronise my tasks, so my bussiness is not affected.


Now I experience the same problems.

It is very bad for me, that I can't synchronise with Outlook, since iTunes won't synchronise with iPhone anymore. It fully consumes CPU-time and I have to cold-start my PC.


This costs me several hours now and if the problem is not solved soon, I give my iPhone away and buy a HTC again. Then I am losing less money then to try and try and try....

Update to my last post. I have finally "fixed" whatever problem was causing the Apple software products to malfunction on my PC, Windows Vista 32 Bit SP2. After updating to iTunes 10.4 and Safari 5.1, a series of error messages would appear:1) AppleSyncNotifier.exe 2) iTuneshelper.exe 3) iTunes Failed to properly install - Error 7 (Windows error 126). I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes & Safari as well as downdating iTunes to an earlier version, but this had all failed to correct the problem and the error messages still appeared when the programs were suppose to have been removed.


I ended up using the Windows Program Manager (in Control Panel) to remove every single Apple product from my PC, including the Apple Installer. Then I restarted the system. Taking bits and pieces of advice from this forum, I started the system, went to the Apple website, downloaded and SAVED the newest iTunes version (which includes QuickTime), but did not run the program. Then I disconnected from the net, turned off all virus and firewall protections, and finally installed the saved iTunes program. It took an extraordinarily long time to complete the install, but I was able to restore my libraries from my iPod Touch (4th gen) by performing a simple sync. I reconnected to the net and updated the device software . . . so far, so good [knock on wood], no error messages yet. I will add each of the removed programs as they are needed in the future so that whatever conflict exists can be fixed - until then, I'm at least happy to have iTunes back! Hope this is helpful to someone and saves them the 4 hours it took me to get back on track 😉

I uninstalled all Apple software from my computer and then reinstalled iTunes only. I DID NOT however disable my antivirus/firewall softare. I launched iTunes and was able to see the iTunes store again. The important thing of course is that I am able to backup/sync my iPhone 🙂


The only issue that remains is that I cannot add my own album art. I recently uploaded a purchased CD to my library and tried to add album art for the tracks and instead I get a black box.


However, again, I'm just happy that I was finally able to backup my iPhone and hopefully the album art issue will be fixed in a future update.

There are a few posts about "backup to disk" being removed. It was a purposeful move by Apple. I believe they removed it so that if you're using itunes, you will have to use their iCloud service. If you have a substantial part of your library that has been ripped from CD's, they WILL CHARGE YOU A FEE to back that part of your library up. I believe the fee will be $24.99 per year. Thank you Apple for charging us for a service that you used to EASILY provide for free!


Sorry about the rant, but I'm really upset about this. Yeah, I know I can backup to an external hard drive, backup playlists, yada yada yada. But nobody has given me an answer yet about whether restoring from those formats will put everything, such as artwork, back in its proper location. I've spent a lot of time adding my own artwork, and I don't relish the idea of having to do all of that over again if I need to restore a library.


BRING BACK BACKUP TO DISK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I run iTunes on two Windows pcs, one with my real music etc that I use to sync and the other I have itunes installed to just sort of see if new versions cause problems.

After I installed 10.4, I see none of my suff under purchased and when I go to look at an application under the apple store, I can't scroll down to see the bottom of the screen.

So I'm not installing 10.4 on my main computer for a while - until some of these issue get settled.

iTunes 10.4 is crashing when it syncs music or photos. I never had this problem under 10.3.1. I've tried completely uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling, but it still crashes. This is on Windows XP SP3.


I get the following error when syncing music or photos:


AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 10.4.0.80 ModName: quicktime.qts

ModVer: 7.69.80.9 Offset: 001cd746

Is it me, or are there major issues with iTunes update 10.4.0.80?
