Updating to iTunes 10.4 on Lion killed the "Show Icon Preview" feature, so that when I have music on my desktop it no longer shows the album art on the icon. Yes, it is checked off in the Show View Options box. This happened before on iTunes 9.2 I beleive. Anyone know a workaround to fix it?

Well, no fix. Seems like they won't even fix it since they could have done it with 10.5
Worst, I switched back to 10.3. Removed every iTunes related files, application, preferences, music folders, caches, everything.
And guess what.
My preview icons are still missing.
Next step is what ? Back to Snow Leo ?
The album art is written to the album art folder and is not directly attached to the file I believe. So since you removed iTunes folders you lost the icons.
Another way would be to use another id3 tagging app and manually add artworks.
Aslo some people wrote scripts that work too.

This occured when updating iTunes to 10.4, not because I removed iTunes itself.
And no, album art is written into files so whether you use iTunes or a tag editor, the artwork is being attached to the file the same way.
iTunes is the problem in the first place. Now I think Lion as a whole can be part of it too since my 'removing iTunes experience'.
Guess I have to live with it, just in case it stays like that from now on and for long...

There seems to be some confusion as to what the problem is. It's not a Lion issue, it's iTunes. I have tested clean installs on Snow Leopard and Lion, starting with iTunes 10.3.1. Before updating iTunes to 10.4/10.5, the artwork displays correctly on Snow Leopard and Lion.
