When printing from Safari to PDF prior to Lion, links survied and could be used from any PDF reader.
With 10.7 those links appear visually like before, but loose the link... This renders the PDF useless for archiving.

Save as PDF definitely preserved the hyperlinks in Leopard and Snow Leopard.
This has to be a missing feature in Lion. We have duplicated the problem with several users and multiple Macs. Updating the print drivers did not solve the problem.
I hope this gets fixed in 10.7.X
The wait continues. The 10.7.1 update did not fix this problem.
Jep... I traced things down to a Safari bug introduced April 6th.
Nightly build 83010 works, 83080 does not.

This is killing me too. As a researcher who likes to print web docs as PDF's to highlight and annotate, to do so I now have to be without the links. This is a MAJOR step backwards and I hope it is just a bug and not one of the new Apple's notorious new ways to dumb everything down.
PS For me this started the day I upgraded to 10.7
Have tried all browser variations, using the Adobe Acrobat to make the PDF, none of it works.
You can manually add the links in Adobe, if you really need to, but this is sooooooo basic we shouldn't have to.

That means you have never tried or did not use Safari....
I'm not sure what you mean Karsten. How do I create a PDF with Safari? I use Acrobat Pro. Am I missing a trick here?
Ah, I see via the Export command - yes that works. Thanks, but not such nice results as using this guy's method
Just print the page, but select some export option from the "PDF" popup menu in the lower left part of the printing dialog.
Safari up to build 83010 created PDF files which kept all links of a web page as active links within the PDF.
It's not just Safari. I saved this Discussions page in Firefox 6.0 as a PDF & none of the links were preserved, either. At least viewing with Preview (my Acrobat Pro stopped working when Rosetta was thrown away).
The bug is in Lion's PDF engine somewhere, I would imagine...
Add my voice. I am using Snow Leo 10.6.8, Safari 5.1 and Preview 5.0.3. I am sure embedded links have been working for years, but not any more. Very annoying. I have sent feedback to Apple, and I guess that's what everybody should do if we want Apple to listen!
A small update to links missing when saving as a PDF.
I was looking over the Apple Support document HT2506 (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2506?viewlocale=en_US#PDF), Mac 101: Preview. It mentions that the Annotate feature will allow links to be embedded in a PDF. While not being very elegant, it works.
But now, here is the insteresting find:
I saved the support page as a PDF so that I could review it later. When I opened the PDF later to read though the document, I was fidgeting with the trackpad and noticed that the http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2506?viewlocale=en_US#PDF
link at the bottom of each page is hot! The link to the support article works, but none of the other links in the document.
The results were the same whether I saved it out in the Reader format or the standard "Save as PDF."
I think you'll find that hyperlinked urls tend to work okay whereas hyperlinked text doesn't.
