Safari 5.1 breaks Citrix

After installing Safari 5.1 my Citrix plugin stopped working. Restoring Safari 5.0 fixed it. Is there any way to get Safari 5.1 and Citrix?

I'm maxed out on Snow leopard on my Intel Core duo macbook, which will not handle 64 bit apps.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Thank you for your reply. I'm running Snow Leopard. I'd looked at the 'get info' for Safari, but didn't see anything about 32 bit mode. After a bit of Internet research, I see that there is an 'Open in 32-bit mode' checkbox for some users. Unfortunately that checkbox doesn't exist on my computer, which has an Intel core duo processor (32-bit, not 64-bit capable). That means the solution of switching to 64-bit mode won't work for my computer. For now, I'll stick with Safari 5.0.5. If I ever do upgrade to 5.1, I can always use Firefox for Citrix access. I'm not a fan of Chrome. Thanks again for your help. I'm hoping to get a new MacBook for Christmas.

Core Duo macs do not have a checkbox to change form 64 to 32 bit mode. You are stuck with 32 bit mode and Citrix does not work if you have upgraded to Safari 5.1. Downgrading to 5.05 allowed Citrix to work again on my core duo macbook pro. I'm going to stay at this Safari version until the problem is solved. Connectivity with my office is more important than any new features in Safari 5.1.

I am having the same problem as the rest, I have unchecked the 32 bit mode box (well, it wasn't checked to begin with) and I have tried using chrome. Neither are working - With Safari I get an error message about java for cocoa. and with chrome I get locked in a loop about downloading the plug-in. Any other suggestions? I'm a fairly new mac user, but am fairly computer literate.

Thanks in advance!

What I did to roll back safari what suggested by another user...

  • Backup your computer first just in case something goes wrong
  • Delete safari from application folder
  • Dwnload the 10.6.8 combo updater and run it to reinstall your OS back to the 10.6.8 state... see this address http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
  • After reboot you will have the older OS and Safari as well.
  • When software update says you have udpates available uncheck Safari and update everything else.

This worked for me to regain Citrix functionality. You can also just use the current version of Firefox which does not have this problem. Good luck!
