What Samsung Printer Drivers work with Lion?

Upgraded to Lion and my Samsung ML-1740 printer no longer prints. Printer worked on Leopard and Snow Leopard with gutenprint drivers but no more with Lion OS. Samsung says so sorry and Apple support sent me here. Has any Samsung 1740 owner found a printer driver that will work with Lion OS? Thanks...JS

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7), Printer worked with 10.6, not 10.7

Hi everybody,

the samsung clx 3185fw perfectly works wireless under Lion for fax, printing & scanning ...

you just have to safely uninstall the samsung drivers provided with the device

delete the samsung's on printer/fax prefs

delete in library what you can find as well about the clx

restart your mac

be sure your clx is correctly connected to your wifi network, otherwise enter network and security tips

go back to printer prefs, add (using +) , you'll see your clx (sec.........)

click it, wait your mac to download software and install.

restart your mac

its done

you can now JUST install the SCAN samsung driver provided with the device, so you'll benefit all functions under image capture.

Top device & soft

bye L

Also used bfox11's suggestion for my ML-1740. Get the most recent Foomatic-RIP and Ghostscript here:

Then only grab the Samsung GDI driver here:

I tried SpliX as well, but it kept crashing while trying to print. Linux stuff just seems to work.

Original Samsung drivers are still available on the Australian Samsung site, but they are for PPC. Should still work on 10.6, but no go for 10.7.

There are no printer drivers as of today for Mountain Lyon 10.8. This is work around. You will need to install it on a Windows Computer or use Boot Camp running Windows 7. With The USB cable in the computer use the Install disk and set it up for a Network Printer. Once this is done you can unplug the USB cable. Next open Systems Preference , Printers add printer you should see the Samsung network printer add it and your done. Good Luck

Sorry to bother you SansPoint but I have a problem with my Samsung 1630 printer. I have migrated from an iMac G4 to a MacBook pro running 10.7.5. Using System preferences, print and scan, the macbook does not recognise the printer, I have downloaded the Splix drivers but I think first of all I need to get the mbp to 'see' the printer. The printer is switched on and the usb cable is connected. Any idea what could be going on here?

Hello Everyone,

I have just fond your posts regarding those printing issues:

I currently have a Samsung CLX 3180 and for an unknown reason, the print function suddenly broke.

I could only use the scan but everythime i wanted to print, i got a message saying it can't find the printer.

Could someone summarize what is the procedure here?

uninstall the drivers, reinstall the new ones?

Many thanks for your help
