Lion Issues on starting up

I've been having small issues when I start Lion since the day I upgraded. When I start it up, it takes about 35-45 sec, (not sure whats the average seconds it takes but before it was faster with SL), next issue: in the startup apple logo screen a progress bar shows up, when its done it goes to the account user screen where u have to log in, but i never had that set up when starting up, i havent put a password cause im the only one who uses the computer, but when it does this i have to log in so i do, then im on the desktop screen n i noticed on the right side of the menu bar i got no volume, and no wifi hardware detected, thats what it says. Im not sure if im on safeboot or what? but then when i restart my computer it restarts just fine, no progress bar, volume working n wifi good, n no user account log in screen, it just jumps to the desktop screen, like it should, these are the issues im having, so far...anyone here having a similar issue? or know what should i do?

Im using an iMac i3 purchased on November 2010

Hey guys, I feel really silly, but i figured out what was causing it at least for me. I run file vault and have to put in my password when booting. What happened to me was, I would hold down shift really early during boot since my password begins with a capital letter. The hotkey for safe boot happens to be holding shift during boot.

Anyway now i make sure i don't press anything until i see the password input line... maybe that will help someone. That was definately the issue I was having.

I'm having this problem on every boot with my macbook pro, this is so annoying! I havent got FileVault turned on (in fact, Lion couldnt install the Recovery HD and FileVault part because I've got a triple-boot osx/window/linux)

and i have disabled every launch items i could find, still no luck!

the only way i can boot this **** thing is by holding alt+command+p+r until it reboots 2!!! times, then it works...whats going on here

I'm having the exact same thing happen as the original poster says, on startup i get a progress bar, leading to a login screen when i don't have it set to go to a login screen. Then after i login, my wi-fi connection doesn't work. So I have to restart from there, and then it starts up fine--no progress bar, no login screen and my wi-fi works. This happened every so often with Snow Leopard, but now with Lion it's all the time.

I'm running a 2010 27inch i3 imac.

Looking for a fix to this...

Hi guys,

This is just a long shot! Are any you guys using the wireless trackpad? if so then i had problems with boot if i switched on the trackpad before my iMac was booted, it would either take ages to boot or it would boot into safe mode, now with not switching on the trackpad until fully booted this has not happened in months!

Just a thought guys

Pedro, you might be on to something. At first I thought the problem was related to my Canon scanner. Every time it was plugged into the USB-port I got the progress bar. When I left it unplugged my Mac booted without any problem. Now for the last few days I got the progress bar every time I switched on my Mac although the scanner is still unplugged. But on July 25 I bought a wireless trackpad. And I did switch it on bevore the Mac was fully booted.

Hi Dorfl,

This gave me problems when switching on the Trackpad first , it was intermit but was 100% my problem! now i don't switch on my wireless keyboard or Trackpad until booted and have never had a problem since , just incase anyone in wondering, to switch off both the wireless keyboard and Trackpad you press the side button , green light comes on, when it goes off that its switched off.

Hope this helps guys!

i Have the same Problem, and i find another Issue, when the boot Problem appears, and i am logged then swive over the Dock and the Magnifician Effect looks bad, you see some Stripes over the Icons.

It looks like a Grafical repeat frequency issue. i think there is also Problem with the Grafic-drivers / Kernel.

So i got these Problems :

No Sound

no Wi-Fi

Grafical Repeat frequency Issue

have iMac 21,5 / i3 3,06 GHz (mid 2010) & have Install Lion with USB Stick after Formatting SL Partition.

got many Programs on the iMac, VLC,MacKeeper,Microsoft Office,CleanMyMac,Aperture,iLife,Toast-It,Photoshop Elements,Photoshop Lightroom,Dejay,Google Chrome,google Earth,Skype...

im kind of an outsider here with my macbook but I can hardly boot now, its getting worse!

i havent got wireless trackpad/keyboard (though integrated trackpad) and my problem seems to be a little bit different: I only once had that bar on boot and it didnt stop at a third but went through, BUT on every single boot I get a somewhat half-frozen system with no wifi, no clock, no bluetooth, and occasionally no sound and crashes throughout the system when trying to access anything like system prefs->network or else....I just got lucky after 20 reboots and PRAM and NVRAM and SMC flashing I finally got wifi again, i am not going to turn off my macbook anytime soon thats for sure 😠

I looked through all LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons and StartupItems and found nothing special, in fact i removed everything not from apple, still no luck....
