Saving illustrator CS5 files in Mac OSX Lion makes the app to crash

Hello!

I have serious troubles with illustrator since i've installed Lion. All my files are stored in a networked Western Digital USB disk connected to the Airport Extreme via USB port. When a file is open in illustrator and try to save ir after a few changes the APP CRASH! No matter if the file was in the desktop or in the networked drive, always crash! The file is saved OK and with no errors but the app crash and need to be "Force Quited" and open again...

Anybody has this issue with illustrator and Lion? Anybody has a fix for this?

THANKS!!!

Adobe Illustrator CS5.5-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7)

How many pages of irate posts does it take to get noticed and receive some confirmation with a chance for resolution of an issue anyway? The combined hours lost as we reboot our systems to be able to continue our tasks must measure in the thousands by now. Hello Apple and Adobe?! Anyone home? I don't want to abandon my Time Capsule (accepting that I'm stuck with Adobe) because of this but I'm sorely tempted. The latest Lion update doesn't fix it, the latest Adobe suite doesn't fix it, so what other options do I have?

I did a clean install of Lion, so wiped my entire harddrive. Then, I downloaded the CS6 trial from Adobe. The problem is still there. I even bought a different hard drive to save over a network instead of the Time Capsule. It's still an issue. Extremely frustrating. So, we know it's not just CS5, we know it's not some bug on my hard drive, we know it's not Time Capsule, and Apple released an update that was supposed to fix it and it did nothing. It's gotta be Lion and Adobe. I thought they would have fixed it by CS6.

This is frustrating -specially when I'm on deadline and I'm pulling my hair out. I expected this from my PC, not my MAC!!

What I just learned:

Someone earlier mentioned the bit about saving locally vs to the network -and I think this is it:

I transferred a file I was working on (on the network) to my local folder and voila! No crashing each time I save.

Shew!

Workaround: Save working file locally, upload to network when finished.

I'll update this post if there are any changes. Finally, I can get back to work (fingers crossed!!)

Adobe, Apple, pleease somebody FIX THIS!!

Please add me to the list. Exact same issues as everyone else!

I spent 12 aggravating hours on tech support with Adobe. Now I'm ******! Finally figured out if I disconnect the Time Capsule (being used as a file server), the issue went away.

I was using 10.6.8 and had recently upgraded to CS6 creative cloud. Everything was fine. Then upgraded to 10.7.4, I figured no harm. Worst mistake ever!!!

PLEASE help us with this issue!!!! Both Apple and Adobe should take ownership of this problem now!!!

Our company just decided to update one of our iMacs to Lion and as soon as we did we started getting frequent crashes when saving to our Time Capsule from Photoshop and Illustrator. What really makes this serious is that when I save a Photoshop file, it deletes the old file I'm trying to save over, and then it freezes and does not save the new file! I've lost a few projects because of this and have had to start from scratch after a lot of work.

Everything saves fine when I save to my desktop it is when I try saving to the Time Capsule that everything starts freezing and I end up having to do a hard restart on my computer.

Mountain Lion is coming out soon so hopefully the issue will be resolved with that update. Still, a person should not have to upgrade their OS for $20 when the issue should be fixed for free!

Hello Apple and Adobe?! Anyone home?

Pages of people having an issue shows that there is an issue for some, but will not bring it to the attention of Apple (or Adobe). This is a User to User forum, no matter how much people wish to believe it is a direct line to Apple. For Apple you will need to send them feedback

And for Adobe

Good Luck

I guess I finally got it and!

As I suspected, the crash issues has to do with the Auto Save resource in Lion.

So you have to disable that to save your documents in network devices that

doesn't support the Auto Save function.

To disable that, you have to follow these steps:

1) Open the System Preferences Panel

2) Click on the Time Machine icon.

3) Click on Options button (Even if the Time Machine resource is disabled)

4) Uncheck the "Lock Document" option.

5) Save it.

So you can use normaly the Adobe Suite, with no crashes.

Worked fine for me.

I hope this can help you too!
