Saving illustrator CS5 files in Mac OSX Lion makes the app to crash

Hello!

I have serious troubles with illustrator since i've installed Lion. All my files are stored in a networked Western Digital USB disk connected to the Airport Extreme via USB port. When a file is open in illustrator and try to save ir after a few changes the APP CRASH! No matter if the file was in the desktop or in the networked drive, always crash! The file is saved OK and with no errors but the app crash and need to be "Force Quited" and open again...

Anybody has this issue with illustrator and Lion? Anybody has a fix for this?

THANKS!!!

OK... This solution was working fine in Lion, but today, after had installed Mountain Lion,

I just discovered that this option in Time Machine has gone.

But I also found a solution to avoid the problem in Mac OS X 10.8:

1) Open Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)

2) Type this command line: defaults write -g ApplePersistence -bool no

This should work exactly like the solution for OS X 10.7

The original post here is a year old, but I'm having all these same problems. Illustrator CS5.1 will save initially to my network hard drive, but any save after that freezes my iMac running Lion 10.7.4. Spinning beach ball - can't force quit. I tried ditching prefs, repairing permissions, and turning off the option in Time Machine. None of it works. They only way I can save is to my desktop and then move files over. Having similar problems with Photoshop. I've searched and searched forums and not finding any solutions.

Is my only option to take the machine back to Snow Leopard?

Hi All,

Anyone any update about this problem ? I have a new clean installation (OSX 10.8.1 + Licensed Adobe CS6 Master Collection) with Timecapsule and this problem is getting very annoying!!

Should it be any help to us all if I go to a Apple Store and they would use there red phone on the genius bar .... Fix this "genius" ;-)

Or maybe I should wait till I reach Apple heaven and ask Steve what was really the problem of not fixing this... seems to me Apple just does'nt want to fix this... (Adobe - Apple no friends ?)

Hope this post is'nt dying here !!

WE NEED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM!!!

I have a similar issue with CS5 running Lion on all my Macs. If my system goes to sleep and any of the CS5 apps are running they freeze on 'wake-up'. Also, I had problems saving files to a networked hard drive that is attached to my Airport Extreme via USB.

I read that Extensis Suitcase plug-ins were problematic, so I installed FontExplorerX as an alternative to Suitcase Fusion. This didn't stop the freezing on wake-up issue but did resolve the crashing during normal use and saving to the wi-fi hard drive. I decided to remove the Extensis plug-in extension from the Photoshop plug-ins folder and that allowed me to work without crashing and save to the wi-fi drive.

I hope that this is a solution to some or all of our issues.

SOLVED for Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion.

Here is how to do it.

1. Open Airport Utility and find out the Time Capsules IP Address in my case 192.168.1.64

2. From Finder - Go - "Connect to Server"

3. In Server Address type smb://192.168.1.64 (your own time capsules ip address)

4. You are done.

Now instead of accesing your folder from the Time Capsule directly you will open all files from the 192.168.1.64 link. You can see it in your Finder right side. Click cmd + , if you are not able to see it and click the "Connected Servers" checkbox.

SUCCESS!

Now you are able to save, etc without any problems from any CS5, CS6.

Sorry for my bad english.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your response. I'm using Lion. I tried turning off the Lock File resource in Time Machine settings per detonart'sinstructions on doing so for Lion, but it didn't help.

I also tried hector raul'ssuggestion above of accesing my Time Capsule folders by connecting to it from Finder - Go - "Connect to Server" and using my Time Capsule's IP address, but this doesn't work for me either 😟. Possibly It's because I need to re-create my aliases to the Time Capsule folders in my sidebar to reflect the different connection as I can see the Volume mounted 2 times on my desktop - once as smb://10.0.1.1/Data and once as afp://Erin's Time Capsule._afpovertcp._tcp.local/Data.

Thanks,

Erin
