Saving illustrator CS5 files in Mac OSX Lion makes the app to crash

Hector you are my hero! Not only are we able to save Illustrator file to the drive connected to our airport in Lion, for the first time ever, the backup from airport drive to a local firewire drive worked! I've talked to numerous applecare folks, spent months on this issue, researched tons of sites, but you fixed it!! THANK YOU!!

With this Hector's solution don't you guys felt your saving process (to the connected server) very very slow?

Does your solution made the accesing and saving files in Time Capsule much more slow?

Just wanted to say that to date Hector Raul's solution of connecting to the server using SMB protocol as opposed to AFP is the only fix that has worked for this problem. (smb://10.0.1.1/Data as opposed to afp://10.0.1.1/Data or afp://Erin's Time Capsule._afpovertcp._tcp.local/Data). I hadn't updated my post to confirm. Thanks, Hector! 🙂

Hector Raul's smb fix does work to save Illustrator files without crashing, but we can't see all the files when we connect that way.... if we connect afp we can see all the files on our drive. If we use smb some files just don't show up.

Any suggestions for me? I assume this is some sort of permissions problem? Anyone have a fix?

I added both sharing protocols to my Login Items so that both versions mount. When I'm saving, I navigate to the 10.0.1.1 destination under "Shared" in the Sidebar menu as suggested by Hector. Perhaps using the Time Capsule (AFP) icon under "Shared" in Sidebar menu will make the files you aren't seeing using SMB visible? I don't think I'm having the seeing files issue you mention.

Note 2 icons for the same Volume in Login Items below. Top one is AFP & bottom one is SMB.

I had the same issue - random folders saying the contain "0 items" when connected via SMB. I then looked at the way they were named, and it seemed like the offending ones all had a forward slash in the name or a rogue space at the end. After removing all these the content is visible, so I'd suggest you check this.
