Awesome Sunil!
Hope to hear that works for others as well. If we can at least confirm this as a fix, then maybe it'll be easier for Apple to find the permanent fix. 🙂
I have not had copy/scan/install fail since Scooter's post, but it will and I'll look at it. Just before the post it had failed and I replaced the plist file with one I had saved from when it was working and that actually worked. So now I pretty much save a copy at the end of the day.
My frustration now is more with what some others threads show of computers showing offline or inactive when you can actually control and observe. Huge increase in that happening for me. Oh well, different thread!

It failed today and going to preferences, task server, putting in the ip of the computer, and then going back to task server did kick it into gear! I'm not seeing the bad ip in the plist file however. When it quit, that portion of the plist was empty. As it was when working.

Hi
I just want to confirm that Scooter is a legend, worked for me too!
Many Thanks! 🙂

Thank You!
I am a high school teacher and use this to distribute files/ collect files from students and have been struggling with this. This worked for me, however I tried it with a random IP and it didn't work. But when I used my real IP it did work.
Hi Scooter,
I tried your method with the Task Server and it didn't seem to resolve my issue. I ended up just killing the plist and re-added the computers and that seemed to resolve it.
Thanks for your contribution, though!
James
Thanks! Had the same lack of copy problem since the upgrade and the Task Server fix fixed it. Just set my own computer's IP as server.
I was having similar issues and followed Scooter's instruction:
"Open ARD. Go to Remote Desktop, preferences, Task Server. Change it to use a remote task server. You can just put in dummy info here or simply your own computer IP. Then simply switch it back to "Use task server on this computer". Close preferences and then try copying to a remote machine."
After entering my own computer's IP address, the preference automatically switched back to the "Use task server on this computer" option. After that, anyway, the copy function worked beautifully. Thanks.
Was having this problem and nothing worked for me until I just trashed the prefs files for Remote Desktop. After that, all back to normal. Not a big deal for me to lose the groups, etc. If you are having trouble and Scooter's suggestion does not work, as it did not for me, then trash the prefs files and it will work most likely.
Hi Scooter,
I know that you posted this a few months ago but you just helped me solve my current ARD problem which was preventing me from copying files to client computers.
I noted that ARD had my IP# wrong. I inserted it as a remote task server as it now works like a charm.
Thank you!
Yes this was a simple fix... switching task server and resetting to 'this comp'.
great work
