Canon Lide 35 scanner on Lion?
Does anyone have a Canon LIDE 35 working on Lion? It works fine on Snow Leopard, but even Vuescan doesn't seem to recognise it on Lion. Canon has no official drivers for this scanner for 10.7.

All is explained by Canon:

You can install the 10.6 drivers (lide35osx7721en.dmg) on Lion and then vuescan will recognize your scanner. It also works with the Preview app
But Canoscan toolbox does'nt work.
I did a fresh installation of Lion and installed this driver. I have the lide50 but as far as I know, it is exactly the same model. But in my case, it doesn't work. The scanner is not recognized by VueScan :-( Any ideas? Did you make a fresh installation or an upgrade?
Got my Lide 35 working! Try these steps:
1) Run OSX software update, which should install a canon software update if you haven't already
2) Type this into google - lide35osx7721en.dmg and download the file from a canon website (it is the snow leopard drivers)
3) Install the file and it will ask you to restart
4) Open up Preview and select File / Import from scanner - your canon lide 35 should be recognised
5) Scan away....
🙂
Thx for you update. I just retried it under 10.7.2 including all Software updates. But it doesn't seem to work. Can I download the software update you mentioned in step 1 somewhere manually? I assume it is already installed on my Mac as there are no more updates.
An other issue could be my case sensitiv file system. Do you use a case sensitive file system or not?
Hi Ruflin,
I'm in the same boat as you......10.7 Lion with Canon Lide 50......did you manage to get yours working?
I see that it is listed as:
CanoScan:
Product ID: 0x2213
Vendor ID: 0x04a9 (Canon Inc.)
Version: 3.03
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Canon
Location ID: 0xfa132000 / 7
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): Unknown (Device has not been configured)
Canon told me that this scanner is too outdated for my new OS. Yet, there is nothing wrong with my scanner.
Can anyone help me, please?
Thanks.
Lisa
Unfortunately no :-( The scanner also shows up on my computer, but I wasn't able to get it working yet. Do you also have case sensitive file system?
My only solution at the moment is to use the scanner on an other computer with 10.6 :-(
I've got a working LiDE 50.
Can't remember what I've done exactly. But LiDE 35 and 50 are the same. I've cleaned my previous installation. I've look for LiDE 35 driver compatible with Lion (if I remember well, I've got them from the english/england site).
I've installed drivers and CanoScan Toolbox (4.5.1.2). It works like a charm since.
My memory comes back (I've found trace on my computer):
I've been here and select "Mac OS X":
My files are:
lide35osx7721en.dmg
cstbosx4512ej4.dmg
It works for me but of course officially, LiDE 35 and 50 are not supported on Lion, so do it at your own risk.

I would say that my FS is case sensitive, but I didn't find an easy way to be sure of.
Thanks for checking. It is only an assumption, as the default is case insensitive and I've already had similar issues several times with poorly written printer drivers from Canon and others. On the other side, it worked with a case senstive file system unter 10.6. This would lead to the assumption that the error is somewhere else.
I will try a complete reinstall in the next days with the files you listed above. What would be nice, is a list of all files you removed, because I removed quite a few files, but I'm not sure which ones are the correct ones.
I have just checked my Mac, and it just says "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", so I guess this in not case sensitive. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing, when trying to get my Lide50 to work.
The chances that it works with a case insensitive file system are higher than with a case sensitive. But there is no proof for that yet. Perhaps you can to install the files Eduardo mentioned above and check if works after that?
