How to run hardware test with Lion?

Apple Hardware Test software is LINK to your imac HARDWARE model so it's normal to lost it if you install lion on older imac

look a your original gray cd set for the right AHT to use with your imac

the way to use AHT under OS X 10.7 is a little bit different but it AHT is present with no doubt

I found I had to select "Option + D" in order to get the AHT to run on an iMac Mid-2011, after a day of hitting D on startup and thinking all was lost I found: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1276347 I hope this helps.

I tried pressing and holding the "D" key over and over again, as we are told to do, but it would not work!

Repeatedly pressing the "D" key is the trick.

Nobody says to do that.

I wasted 6+ hours trying to hold the "D" key,

• reading crap
• checking that my keyboard was working
• replacing batteries on my keyboard
• trying it again
• thinking that I was not doing it correctly or missing something, re-reading these articles over and over, searching until I found and tried your method.
