Media Keys on keyboard not working with iTunes 10.4.0.80

After updating to iTunes 10.4.0.80 I have lost all control via the media keys (ie: play/pause; next; previous) on the keyboard whether or not iTunes is the focused application.

Specifics: Windows XP Pro SP3; Logitech MK710 wireless desktop (keyboard & mouse); SetPoint V6.30.41 - driver v5.30.67

Contacted Logitech first and their saying it's an iTunes issue. Believable since the media keys work with other player applications.

This is not life shaking but it would be very nice to have the functionality back again. Anybody have any thoughts?

Same problem with both 10.4.080 and 10.4.1 versions of iTunes. Worked fine before 10.4. Using a Razer Lycosa keyboard that works fine with all other software that can utilize media buttons.

iTunes control doesnt work either, firstly because iTunes control doesnt even appear to detect the mediabuttons and secondly iTunes will not react to the default hotkeys either.

itc works with 10.4, not with the newest release.

itc has to be rightclicked in the taskbar and then press open or configure... whatever.

please if you are able to handle with apple's homepage or you are able to use google, then be brave and kind and ask a person in your family or ask a friend wether they can help you. maybe they can afford their abilities to configure itc as it has to be!

if you don't want to downgrade to 10.4.0 then a reinstallation of itc is useless, cause it only will work with 10.4 and lower versions.

i don't have the time to answer here all the time and most of the guys don't want my help and itc and they just say: hey man i want you to hack itunes and fix the problem.

but i cannot, i am not god (btw something like gods doesn't even exist) or jesus... i can't walk over water.

i am just a person that explains you how to get along with failings of big homo sapiens sapiens' inventions like the program itunes. and without basic informatical knowledge (how to install, uninstall and configure software) it's like me talking to a wall or a tree.

Updated to 10.4.1.10 - still not working unfortunately. I did hear back from a support rep though -

"I realize not being able to operate keyboard on iTunes new version, especially when everything appears to be okay on your end could be disappointing. I assure you that our engineers are diligently working to resolve it and hopefully things should work out very soon."

While this is not an answer I wanted to hear, because it solves nothing and doesn't show that anything actually is happening - the blame was accepted by the Itunes folks. Hopefully the NEXT version resolves the problem, because this one clearly didn't.

@Willy: I didn't ask for any help what so ever, im just saying it doesnt solve the problem. Stop being condesending, i tried using the software, i am well versed with computers and have worked in tech support myself for several years, and have used a computer since i was 3 years old, so my lack of skill is hardly the problem here is it.

By the way, if you dont have time to help, then how can you possibly have time to write a 5 part post explaining how stupid i am for not being able to use the simple software you recommended? 🙂

@kschzhd: Well, lets hope the next patch solves the problems then! 🙂

THIS WORKS ------ !

Hello to all

I own a MX5500 keyboard and have SetPoint 6.30.41 with driver 5.30.67 installed. I had the same problem with multimedia keys not working with my iTunes.

I think i have found a solution which works for me. I googled a bit arround and read some posts about people haveing the same issues with other programs not only itunes.

Following some suggestion i seem to have found a solution for the problem and my play/pause, next and previous buttons work with iTunes 10.4.1

- You need to open a text editor (like notepad) as an administrator.

- Open the SetPoint players.ini file (C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPointP\players.ini)

- Edit the line under the [Players] section to match the line bellow (bold is the wndClass which is to be changed)

iTunes=wac,iTunes.exe,ITWindow,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,0,1,iTunes

- Save the file

- Restart the SetPoint and hopefully play/pause, next and previous buttons should work (at least they work for me)

I hope this helps
