Boot Camp 4.0 Network Problems

I have just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion. Not many issues but this is i can't work around.

When I try to run Boot Camp in order to install a Windows Xp I get the Below error saying :

"Can't install Windows Support Software because you are not connected to the Internet."User uploaded file

My Internet connection is stable and good , I have tried this with/without a cable and neither worked.

All other apple applications I have tested register an Internet connection.

Hopefully someone might know a fix 🙂

Thanks in advance

I have a Mid 2009, 13" Macbook,2.13GHz Intel C2duo with 4Gb RAM.

Thanks for posting, I thought that bootcamp 4.0 wasn't supporting anything prior to Xp Sp1, I must have read that wrong. I will probably try another version of Windows .... Hopefully wont have the same problem the other guys here are having, otherwise will downgrade to 10.6.8 and wait for 10.7.1/2 😉

It doesn't. You can leave XP and Vista there as is, as they were, you may be able to create a partition, and tell BCA you will install later. you can't use the BC 4.0 drivers though, that should still allow using your 10.6 DVD's.

I got all excited thinking I finally found a solution...

"Go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced - Proxies

Uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery", click OK, Apply"

But this didn't work in my case... any other suggestions???

I am having exactly the same problem. I have turned off Auto Proxy Discovery and I am still getting the error message:

Can't install Windows Support Software because you are not connected to the Internet.

I am running 10.7.1 on a MBP Late 2008.

Any further suggestions???

I just installed Lion on my MacBook4,1 a.k.a. 13" (Early 2008) and launched Boot Camp Assistant 4.0.1. As soon as I got to the download Windows support software step I also got the error "Can't install Windows Support Software because you are not connected to the Internet." I launched System Preferences > Network, clicked Advanced and under Proxies the Auto Proxy Discovery checkbox was already unchecked. I tried a few cycles of checking Auto Proxy Discovery, clicking OK, clicking Apply, repeat with Auto Proxy Discovery unchecked ... and still got the same error. I noticed odiggy's comment and tried restarting Boot Camp Assistant. That did the trick, even though the Auto Proxy Discovery checkbox ended up the same as it started. Windows support software is now downloading...
