DON'T UPDATE TO LION!

I couldn't be more unsatisfied with OS X Lion. First, problems with Safari (and sometimes I got to restart because it has some problem with Youtube), problems with Finder, my network it's completely deconfigured in comparation with my old Snow Leopard, and now the sound has gone with NO reasons. I hear the sound of the volume going up and down, but can't play Youtube and even iTunes! With all the respect, I thought Apple was different from Microsoft, but now that become this big, feels like thinks the same way.

DO NOT UPDATE TO LION! Don't waste your money with a software that have a lot of issues to get fixed.

I upgraded my iMac and MBP and the sun came

out, flowers bloomed, champagne flowed from

the fountains, a choir sang, and Republicans

and Democrats became friends.

I upgraded my MacMini and my dog went into

fits, my house started collapsing, a tornado

came down the street, my car wouldn't start

and burst into flames, the earths crust began to

split...................

I'm sorry you are having problems, but you have to remember most people are not having the problems you're having. Therefore it has to be something unique with your setup.

I upgraded my mid 2008 24" iMac, with only one hitch, Safari 5.1 is very slow. As I was advised to do here, I updated Flash and Java, cleared the Safari cache, and reset Safari. So far so good, Safari is responding much better.

I have a 6 year old HP Photosmartt 8150 printer, that's working without a hiccup. I have a 11 year old USB Canon scanner running with VuScan like it was brand new. My 10 year old Sound Sticks w/subwoofer, sound great. My AppleTV connects and works fine. I did lose the ability to use Office 2004, no big deal, for a few bucks I bought Numbers and Pages, I don't miss MS Office at all. I understand Carbonite is preparing an upgrade for their excellent back up service. I also will have to update Carbon Copy Cloner.

On the whole, from my perspective, Lion is a pretty trouble free upgrade. It just works!

When something doesn't work, people get irrational, and frustrated. I get that way when my lawn mower won't start, or my weed whacker gives me a fit. I know nothing about small combustion engines. I threw my last weed whacker into the lake. I had to fish it out, because I didn't want to pollute the lake I'm more patient with computers, for some reason.

On the whole Lionis a pretty stable operating system, the next update will solve many of the existing problems. Of course the user has to do a little research to find out if what's bugging their system, can be fixed. I just fiound out that Flip4Mac was causing some of my Safari problems. I had a 2007 build installed, i trashed it, and I'm a happy camper with Safari right now.

These Forums are wonderful, you get help for free, and everyone who posts answers here are really knowledgable, and patient.

My post on 'Is OS X Lion sexist?' got removed. Any chance you have the posts I made in reply in your mail box?

I'd like to reconstruct the thread for historical and I think useful analysis of this fluffy OS.

Thanks if you can help with that...

ps. to this thread:

I am curious as to why this thread still exists when it is also not really providing technical stuff, mainly fluff....

You're not very helpful, you exhibit exactly the attitude you criticize, jackfromontague is not experiencing the issues you are, that gives you some information of value, why be rude to him?

You're not being helpful, either, by continuing to criticize people for being frustrated with Lion. I haven't actually seen you post anything helpful in relation to the various problems various people are reporting.

As I've noted before, I have various problems on all three of the Macs I've upgraded, and my Mac mini, which performed almost flawlessly under Snow Leopard, has been an absolute disaster since the Lion upgrade.

Not everyone is as lucky as you apparently were with the Lion upgrade, so show some respect.

What are the actual statistics? What percentage of Lion users are actually having no problems? Why are you here if there is nothing wrong with Lion on your Mac? If you will read through this forum, you will see that your experiences are not typical of most of the people here.
