Mac mini with dual monitors

I'm getting ready to purchase a new Mac mini, but I'm confused as to how I would connect my 2 LG L204WT Monitors with DVI connections. Anyone care to explain?

delusive - can you be more specific about what exactly you did? i tried switching the resolution on both monitors to all sorts of different combinations of resolutions with no luck.

my big issue is that the second monitor will freeze up - whatever was shown there before freezes solid, i can't click windows and if i drag a window from the first monitor to the second then the mouse moves but i do not see the window that i'm dragging.

apple support said i'd see a fix soon but i haven't been able to get any more info from them in quite some time. i'm about ready to open a new case 😟

it also looks like it's happening with multiple GPU monitors which probably indicates that it's more than a driver issue. i'd love to see if this happens on 10.6 as well.

Here's what I did. It's not that hard to do, but it did take me a little while, with my monitors rotation changing every few seconds.

  1. Rotate Thunderbolt/Mini Display port to 90.
  2. Confirm
  3. Then rotate same display to 180.
  4. Confirm
  5. Rotate HDMI dsiplay to 90
  6. Confirm
  7. Change Thunderbolt/Mini Display monitor from 180 back to 90
  8. Confirm

Now I have side by side portrait displays. Dual Dell 2009W.

This suggestion might assist some of you connecting your dual Samsung Dual monitors on the new operating system. My Samsung on the old last operating system automatically synched with the computer. When I got a new 2014 Mac Mini the monitors did not work. The Applecare guys spent a few hours with me on the phone and nothing worked it was a complete disaster.

I took the Mac Mini and my oversize screens to Genius Bar. Well it did not cross my mind that I needed to change the monitor configurations on the monitors to HDMI. When you click on the monitors, you will see the monitors giving you this option from the beginning on the left part of the screen: analog, hdmi, etc......

You can easily do that change from your screen, manually. The genuis guy fixed the issue in matter of seconds. Secondly, we connected the monitors HDMI to HDMI and then the second monitor with two cables: HDMI to HDMI and then a second cable Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapater. The monitors look even better now!

Anyways, this might help some of you....

I'm also having the same problem. I use two portrait monitors at the office on Windows with no problem (one at 90, one at 270). On my Mac Mini (mid-2011), I can't get it to work as most of you can't get it to work. I've tried changing the rotation in increments as stated above, but can't get the right combination. I was trying with two 24" TVs that I had hooked up. Thought it was the cheap TVs so I bought two Dell 23.8's. Same problem. Best I can get is one landscape and one portrait. I'm using one HDMI-HDMI cable and one Displayport-HDMI cable.

Config:

mid-2011 mini

graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5

OS: 10.10

I'm concerned that now that it's late 2014/early 2015, we can't get support for this issue any more. Not a good sign since it's been a problem since this edition of the Mini first came out.
